hey everyone, i did a search and cant find what im looking for. im going to take my side fairing off and put my own type of heat shield over the over the one buell gives you to use. now i know of one type someone on here used because i booked marked the site but going back and looking at it, it says "withstands 1100 degrees F.... withstands 100 degrees of radiant heat or 450 degrees of direct heat... well thats confusing! lol but i found some at summit racing (perks of living less then 30 min away from there) it says from there "will reflect up to 1000 degrees F and will protect against a direct continuous temperature of 400 degrees F" will that work???? or another one summit has is like 3/16 thick and its says its good for 1750 degress (seams like over kill to me)

I used fiberglass pipe insulation and aluminum tape...for about 10 bucks all said and done. Works like a champ...

The 1000 degree one will work, the heatshield I put on is rated to that.

I wouldn't put it on over the factory shield though, that's not very sticky and too "puffy" so it'll narrow the airgap unneccessarily.

I bought mine off eBay for about $20 and it's working really well

... the frames are insulated? Is that on the 08s as well, or just the more recent ones?

http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/Shop-by-Brand/ Heatshield-Mats-and-Blankets/Heatshield-Radiant-He at-Mat?whence= was suggested to me as a solution - I'm fighting with melting fairings as well.

the 08's did NOT come insulated on the frame there was a heat shield that you could buy from HD... might be able to still get it cause i think it was factory in 09 and 10. you have to roll the motor forward to get the shield in.

Well, I'll keep that in mind if I have the engine rotated forward for anything.
