since they're not mentioned here, and there's a few military guys on the forum, thought i'd show an example of AKUMA helmets. They're based out of San Antonio, TX and have good reviews that i've seen. They have navy, army, air force and marine themed helmets, plus a few others. Some trick visors too. here's an example:

I have been wearing AFX helmets for the last 7-8 years. Basically a couple of guys got pissed that gear was costing so much so they started their own company. The FX-90 was my first AFX helmet and it was great for the $ only $79! My wife currently has the flip up FX-28 & I the FX-30 (pictured). Say what you want, but DOT approved is DOT approved. The more $$$ you pay for is for looks & whistles & bells. And these AFXes now have some nice looks. They even a SNELL or two out offered.

Oh and for you other military guys. AFX helmets meet/exceed both DOT & ECE 22.05(Euro) safety requirements. So no need to spend 130 Euro on a $130 helmet! http://www.afxhelmets.com/helmets/fullface/fx-30sk .php |

I wear a Nolan N102C, it's the 3rd Nolan I've bought. I had 2 - N100s when I first tried them, my brother still uses one. The Nolan helmets fit me very well and are the first helmets I truly enjoy wearing. I like the flip-face and LOVE the latch... never again will I screw with D-rings.

I just crashed, on Tuesday morning, at freeway speeds. My head struck the pavement, and knocked me unconscious. I don't remember much about the ambulance ride, the paramedics, or the ride home when they released me. I say that, to tell you this. I was wearing an Akuma helmet. It saved me from a serious head injury. YMMV |

I was gonna get the navy one but I was a little uneasy about buying a lid with out trying it on. Oddly enough I bought a suomy with out trying it on. |
