Look on the neck next to the VIN#. It will tell you a month and year. |

If they didn't give you a birth sheet when you bought it (piece of paper with a large VIN on it, a bar code, a sticker that was removed...and the date and build colors)...the date on the frame is as close as you're gonna get. The only thing H-Dnet files is the "in-service" (i.e. retail sale) date, because that starts your warranty. |

Dont all the bikes have a tag like this at the neck or do they fall off easily or something? This is located right next to the VIN stamp. Anyone else have an old 08 made in 07? (Message edited by kc10_fe on February 24, 2010) |

If its anything like cars, once you pass the 6th month they can (or are...) label it the following model year.... My CR has a build date of aug 08, but is an 09 model year. This is pretty std in my limited sampling... YMMV |

Since my VIN is up for everyone to see could you please run my info for the latest and greatest I should bring up when I bring it in for the clutch weep? I called the dealer I bought the bike from and the service guy asked someone next to him if they still serviced Buells! So I found a dealer that said hell yeah bring it here one of techs just bought a CR. I was happy to hear that and I hope the dude sticks with Brians HD for awhile so I can pick his brain and get quality work done by someone who actually owns the brand. Check the front lip of the air intake snorkel. When i pulled mine of to de-noid I found a date marked in silver sharpie. My build date on the VIN label is June 08 and the sharpie said 6/20/08. It's the only "day" that I've seen as of yet, so for me that the birthday. I don't know at what part of the assembly that occurs, but its gotta be near the end of it rolling off the line. Maybe I'll take a trip to the factory to see for myself...OH THAT'S RIGHT I CAN'T ANYMORE, THANKS HARLEY-DAVIDSON

Actually, its January 1st is when they can start legally doing it. For example, the 2007 Chevy Tahoe went on sale Jan 1st 2006. This is why you can see several 2011 cars on the road already. |

I work at at gm dealership and think you may be mistaken on the whole year lead time,matter-of-fact i am almost positive they don't show up until the fall at least for gm that is,i just talked to the sales manager and they generally do get delivered in the fal, so a 2011 will be avalailable in maybe August but more likely September |

if there are 2011's on the road then they got to be test vehicles of some sort and not being sold to the public until the fall... |

also i think that change-over used to be after the july homecoming at Buell,a week or two after, they would shut down the line at Buell and set up for the next years production line.. (god... gonna' miss the factory gig thing each year, especially since i quit going to the world freefall convention)....

Supposedly, mine is the first "privately owned" one to hit the road in Colorado. I have been told by a few people that some pre-release testing was done out here. Z |

Tbolt98 - that was one of my reasons as well for getting one made in July. I just wish I new the exact day! |
