So Friday I sign the paperwork on my 1125r. The problem is that my wife keeps asking what are my plans for the $4200 I have from the insurance company. (last bike got stolen). She wants it for bills. I ain't giving her $#!+. But how do I tell her in a way that I still get to ride her and the bike??? |

... if you've got $4k+ of bills that need to be paid, that's probably a better use of the money than the bike. |

Um... Totally unrelated to the "Buell" thing, but "retaliation spending" is typically a major predictor of marriage issues due to financial stress. "It's my turn to spend recklessly now because she has" isn't an attitude conducive to remaining married for a long time. *shrug* Just something to consider. |

...and we wonder why the economy is a wreck. Pay the bills. Buy the toy when you have extra money. Hate to say it (and if my wife reads this, I'm in deep $h!t)...but she does have a point. When you use your 1125 for transportation as regularly as she uses her Outback...then you have a leg to stand on. Till then...keep the peace and pay some bills. |

I think you found the bearings but lost your "balls". LOL anyway, if Momma ain't happy no one is in the house. Plain simple rule to live by. |

Screw it - you could get run over by a bus tomorrow and as long as you're up to date on your life insurance the familly will be fine... So just crack on and spend the money.. The economy is only bad when people can't afford to keep up their payments.. If you can do that you're fine! |

I would say find a used buell in your area for less $$$ and use the remaining money to pay the bills. That is just my opinion and ONLY my opinion that should be taken with a grain of salt. If the bills are paid then you will have no trouble in being able to afford a really nice used bike. I am a firm believer in if the bills are paid on time that will raise your credit level so you can get more in the future. |

1. we been together for 20 years. 2. I bought the subaru for her. 3. all the bills are current. 4. my credit is excellent. 5. I do use the my bike for everyday transportation. yeah i got my bearings so im just gonna have to fake the balls. she'll never know the difference. now here's the deal. last summer I took out a small loan ($3000.) for a bike. im still paying that loan off. the bike got stolen and insurance gave me 4200. now am i really suppose to take money that im still paying off to pay bills? who takes out a loan to pay bills. i've bought her pocket books that cost more than my first bike and there all sitting in a closet somewhere? |

married 20 years.. she knows you by now, you're not pulling anything over on her. no matter what happens, things have a way of working out. if you pay the bills now and pass on the bike, one will probably fall on your lap sooner or later. |

I'm getting the bike. I'm not going to use a loan/insurance check to pay a credit card bill. That's the dummest thing I ever heard |

Well actually if the loan itself is cheaper in interest than the CC i would say that isn't dumb.. i've consolidated my own CC bills when i was younger and broke. it worked out for me... 12% interest loan to pay off CC's with 20% interest.... obviously you don't want to hear what we have to say, so stop posting , buy or do what ever and be happy...... |

Sounds to me like you have $1200 equity from the ins. check. Pay off the $3k. No sense at all carrying a loan on a vehicle that no longer exists. Use the $1200 to either put money down on the new bike, or pay some bills, or both. As noted above, though...look at the interest rates and keep the lowest interest, and pay off the high interest. |

It sucks to have money and then realize it has to go to debt. Been there. Your best bet is to juggle your debt around so you only hold the lowest interest debts right? Anything else is just living beyond your means and any little fart in the airline will drown you. |

It's not the wet farts I worry about it's sitting on my nut sack...these sport bikes are ball busters if you don't hitch them babies up out of the way. I recommend duct tape. |
