hi guys, My names Mark i'm new to the Buell world but not Vtwins I am looking for info like free mods, and what to do and what not to waste time with. By free mods I mean any air box mods etc. Im getting a 09 1125R Just need info on the "new flash" and if you do or don't need denoid the bike with the flash As well as custom exhaust setups and "tunes" (I made a custom exhaust for my old SV1000S w/ mild tune, along with other mods) I am just trying to avoid any confusion or information overload. I would like to just get a good overview of where to start if I stay close to stock or go custom exhaust/tune (flash) /air box mods etc Thanks in advance, and I hope these questions aren't too redundant --Mark |

I have not had a single issue with the noid since the last flash. I have not removed mine due to this. It may be my style of riding or may not be as the noid was bothering me before the flash. Welcome to the site also. |

Hi Mark Irrespective of whether the latest flash requires a de-noid it's worth taking it off anyway as it'll make the throttle feel lighter (lees resistance) and it removes a tiny bit of weight too. Don't forget to purchase the terminating resistor if you do remove it. There's plenty of stuff on here about modifying the stock exhaust - ranging from a few strategically placed holes drilled through the outlets to a full "cut it open and modify inernally) complete with pictures. I went the "drill through the outlet" route and then added some stainless turnouts to stop the rear wheel & brake from getting covered in crud. Opinion is devided over running the bike with the inner airbox cover removed (it's VERY loud) and the impact of this on performance (you lose the ramair effect). Opinion is also devided over the K&N filter, I run one on mine but the std filter isn't particularly restrictive anyway and the AMA bikes ran stock filters. There are some great custom exhaust threads on here D_Adams and others have made some fantastic looking systems and there are a fair few after market ones to pick from. I like the Barker so have ordered one (not arrived yet) but the Torquehammer and Drummer look pretty good too. Welcome aboard |

He's excited about getting a new bike and wants to be informed about the aftermarket support, especially the going-ons on this forum. A lot gets discussed here and it's hard to catch up sometimes with the Archive system — most aren't used to it. I don't see a problem with it. Enjoy the new bike!! |

I oftentimes have my mods pre-ordered and in the garage before the vehicle (car or bike) shows up ... Sounds perfectly normal to me. Welcome to the Buell world! Mike |

The best free (well close to free) mods are making sure you got the latest ECM flash, and removing the solenoid ($6 for the resistor). Other than that, nothing you really need to do. The stock airbox is great, and is functional. You can take the lid off it, it will sound badass with the dual 61mm throttle bodies at WOT, but it will hurt the bikes top speed (non issue for me anyway. Leave it as stock as possible at first, get the hang of the bike and learn it and see what you need, whether its different mirrors or maybe a decal or something. |

I moved over to the 1125R from a TL1000S and have been pleasently surprised by how quick the Buell is. It feels noticeably stronger and handles a whole lot better (and I thought my TL was good). The stock exhaust is well designed - does the job really well, most slipons don't give much (if any) power increase just a volume increase (which is fine by me) LOL |

Marks09r - I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Owned a tube frame S2 for past 15 years and just picked up 08R in early January. Only put 7 miles on it so far, but already know that I'll be doing the noidectomy, custom turnouts, as well as getting the brake line recall and rear blinker replaced. Also get the dreaded battery drain and CEL/Fuel light when cold, so might need a new IC. By the time I get those sorted out and have the break in done, I will have "become one with the bike" I'll be ready for further mods. Agree though, this board is an excellent source if your patient enough to search. Matt |
