Bought a Speedcell battery two weeks ago. Didn't know that there are two companies producing and selling two different batteries under the same name. There is the ex-distributor, Jason, and the original inventor of the Speedcell battery Josh. Jason is the former east coast distributor of Speedcell batteries. I understand that the batteries he sells now are made in China, and are an attempt to duplicate the original Speedcell batteries. They are not the same as the Speedcell batteries produced by Josh's company in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Josh sells to the US Army, MotoGP, World Super Bike and AMA teams. The battery that Jason sold me is more than twice the price and heavier than the one I could have gotten from Josh. There is a patent law suit in the works. Josh's lawyer understandably refuses to allow him to comment publicly on the matter. If you have any questions you should contact each person. I talked to Josh yesterday for a half hour. Great guy that rides at my favorite track but I've never met. He owns quite a few race bikes. Two are RC51's, he likes v-twins. He also owns two R1's, one is at Evan Steel Performance which Chris Peris rides from time to time. Josh is a lot of fun to talk to. Except he gets really technical when talking batteries and the 1125 Buell (which he eventually wants to get). I promised to let him ride mine the first time we're at the track together. The track owner has ridden mine and he keeps Josh pumped up on how good it is. So, if you are thinking of getting the lightest, most powerful motorcycle battery made, contact Josh. He has a battery in testing that blew my mind just to hear about. Josh has a proprietary method of producing lithium-phosphate (?) batteries that the competition has not figured out. I bought the Carbon Speed one. So far I'm pleased, but I am wiring in the start jumper plug so I can carry my old OEM battery with me. In yesterday's cold, I nearly exhausted mine getting the bike to start. | ||

Since starting this post I've learned that Jason does own the Speedcell name which is the subject of the patent lawsuit. I look forward to those guys getting the name thing settled. Avc, that's an interesting thread. | ||

you can buy an A123 battery from http://www.battlepack.com/. They will build them to suit or you can buy a Dewalt 36v pack deconstruct it and build a pack yourself. A 123 batteries have been around for a few years. Speedcell didn't invent the technology, they adapted it. These guys invented it http://www.a123systems.com/a123/products | ||
