Are you talking about making them stick out further? There was some discussion about this not too long ago and I don't remember there being anything helpful discovered for keeping the stock mirrors but widening the mounts or making them stick out farther. I think someone thought that the mirrors from another Buell (an XB, maybe?) would fit and be wider but I don't recall for sure. I am definitely interested in something that keeps the stock mirrors but makes them sit wider. Unfortunately, you also have to keep in mind that the rubber sheath over the stalks isn't all that long, so you'd have to make some kind of extender that goes between the base of the stalk and the mount point on the fairing stay. |

hey tim, you can losen the base on your cr, and move the whole mirror piece forward/backword. it worked on mine now its not too bad. |

On my CR I loosened the base and rotated it forward a few degrees, now it is perfect. My 1125R is great without any adjustments. |

I couldn't adjust my CR mirrors to the point where I could see behind me, so it was an easy decision to toss them for a pair of CRG 4" bar ends with Rizoma LED turn signals. I mounted the turn signals on either side of the headlight cowl. If you like to loose weight, get rid of the stock mirrors, they weigh a ton. |

For a CR, if you place about 5 washers under the mount where it bolts on to the handlebar it will raise the mount enough that you can rotate them farther out (more parallel to the handlebar)before they hit the switch housing. This moves the mirror stalks significantly farther out towards the end of the handlebar. The problem you run into is that you cannot rotate the stalks in the other end of the mounts to get the correct mirror angle without first unbolting the mirror stalks from the mount and dremelling the detents out of the mounts (you have to take them apart to see what I am talking about - the stalks have 3 springloaded detents in them that allow them to mount solidly unless hit, in which case they swing away without breaking). Anyway, I just finished this project today and sitting on the bike it appears I am now going to have a set of usable mirrors. Too snowy out right now to try them on the road. |

Take em off altogether and put bar ends on I couldn't see with the stock mirrors and almost got into trouble because of them. |

What is a problem for me (maybe not for your riding style/environment) is that i keep clipping car mirrors with the CR mirrors while lanesplitting (and thats 99.9% of the time here in LA). 3 years on the Firebolt, clipped mirrors probably 2, 3 times. 3 weeks on the CR already clipped 3 cars. So my stockers are coming off for some adjustable Rizomas. |

I gave up trying to make the OEM mirrors work on Loretta, 08-1125R. Took them off and replaced with Firebolt Long-stem(late-models) mirrors. Ran the turn signals to the marker lights in front. Lo-beams(HID - 6800K) and left turn.

On my CR, I fabricated some brackets out of 1/4" think aluminum, to move them forward 3/4" and out 2". Improves the area you can see behind you greatly. here's what they looked like before painting:
and here's how they look mounted:

They are very simple to make, basic 1/4" aluminum plate. If I did it again, I would only move them forward 1/2" as there isn't a need to have them that far forward. Also, maybe move them out 2 1/4" instead of 2" just to get more of a view in the mirror. I can see about 3 quarters on the mirror now, whereas in the stock configuration, I could only see about a quarter of what was in the mirror. Although, the longer the bracket is, the more susceptible it is to vibrations. I can't really make you a set, and sell them to you, as that would be violating the rules of the BadWeb, as I am not a sponsor. I would be willing to email you a cad drawing that you can take to any machine shop local to you. They will be able to make it for you. I painted mine with basic Krylon glossy black out of a can. $3 a can at the hardware store. |

I'll powder coat them gloss or flat black for free if you send a pre-paid return envelope. Small items are a cinch for me to coat. |

For what it's worth, I had a similar problem with the stock mirrors on my Uly... couldn't see around my arms. I installed a set of 'mirror extenders', they're on Ebay for about $25. They move the mounting point outward about 2" or so. Worked OK for me. The 1125CR might be a different story. Example: Ebay #270528025878 |
