This is my HPE ( race ) exhaust system. Pulled the stock head pipes and they were ceramic coated internal and external. The HPE system was ceramic coated to match the head pipes. |

Looks good! I installed my HPE 'as it came' (made of Iconel which turned a nice goldish colour) but I've read that they are making them in SS now too. Do you run yours with the DB killers? (I don't - but its pretty loud) Have you done anything with the fuel map to account for the fact it is much freer flowing? |

Don't really race just something to play with. The DB killers are in it for now, can't say I would want it any louder. Have not had it tuned, but runs and sounds good as is.} |

I like that a lot. How much was it? How loud are we talking here. I don't want it loud but would like to get rid of the stock as I think it is a flaw in the looks of a bike most people think looks flawed to start with. |

Best looking pipe IMO, closest to a GP style pipe that I'd like to see on one. How bout a video? |

Best looking one I have seen. Ya, know it is all about the looks on street bikes that you don't plan on racing all the time. Have seen them for sale on a couple sites for around $1700. |

The race version is $1272 here: http://www.motosupply.com/product_info.php?product s_id=1424 The street version is a lot more at $1754 here: http://www.motosupply.com/product_info.php?product s_id=1587 Not sure why such a huge price difference except they say it is street legal in the EU which should make it acceptable most places outside of NYC. I really want this exhaust, but the race version is said to be VERY loud and the street version is just stupid money compared to a Drummer for example. The only two sound clips I can find on YouTube are completely useless due to the noise saturating the audio. That setup is super sexy Ray. Well done. |

The street version is catalyzed,I guess thats why the big cost difference. The race version is loud, but with the DB killers it has the sound I was looking for in an exhaust system. Thanks Freight-dog I really like the look of this setup also. |

I've posted this a few times - but here she goes again since this thread is dedicated to the exhaust. Mine is the race version without the DB killers. Its not that loud once you get moving - tooling around in the city revving the engine is a 'no no' (on so many levels!) Sounds good. As for loud I have to say that most HD models with any pipe sounds much louder. Maybe Im deaf from 16 years of flying military airlift or from my V&H duals on the HD but Im really lost in this whole noise debate. Ive heard some rice bikes that are just stupid loud as well as HD models running short shots right off the motor which is of course the ones you hear at 10pm a mile away. Is it just the audio not delivering the true sounds or are most of these pipes just kinda loud but tolerable? TMan I agree with you that most folks who feel the need to rev a bike while rolling through the hood should be kicked in the balls. Neighbors will never appreciate your bike at 430 in the am or 1130 at night. (Message edited by kc10_fe on January 27, 2010) |

There is definitely a LOT of bass kicking out of the HPE - especially on the right side. You can feel it in your chest, its not overly intrusive or annoying - but it certainly has 'presence'. When your riding (over 60mph) you don't notice it much, if at all, as the sound is trailing behind you - however the thunder you leave in your wake may be a different matter(not unlike a 'being in' a fighter jet vs. standing on the ground as that same jet passes overhead). If your responsible with the throttle it should pose no problems in noise sensitive areas - speaking of which - this exhaust greatly improved the low RPM (2-4k) drivability so you can actually 'baby it' out of the neighbourhood and out onto the open road. |

this exhaust greatly improved the low RPM (2-4k) drivability so you can actually 'baby it' out of the neighbourhood and out onto the open road. That's what I am thinking. A lot of exhaust noise can be controlled by your right hand, and these things accelerate quick enough in traffic to not require big throttle openings and annoying sound. Rlvh, who did your coating? American Sport Bike or someone else. I might need to emulate your exhaust since you achieved almost exactly what I had in mind in terms of appearance and it looks every bit as good as I had hoped. Skntpig, Not an easy job to remove the rear pipe, you have to rotate the engine. The service manual gives good instructions, a must have. |

Hi folks, i do not write a lot, but i WANT to give you my feedback. I'm form milan, italy, and i've the HPE under my CR. that's my bike. I've run with and without DBKiller and i've to say that this pipe is the loudest i ever heard.... It sounds really great, really like a V8 engine it's really noisy when you start the bike, but when you run it's smoother.... just a little bit afraid when police is around... from a performance point of view, without dbkiller is really great!! LOBA LOBA!!! |

I WANT. Wish it wasn't nearly $1,300 though. Anybody know if those of us in the US need the version with the cat? I don't think we do because the stock exhaust doesn't have one, but I thought I'd check. (Message edited by JeepinBueller on January 28, 2010) |

Okay, I got my bike Dyno'ed today.......... Wish I could post the print out but I don't have a scanner. I have two results. 1st run is a fourth gear roll on. Max Power was 122.00 Max Torque was 66.58 2nd run is all gears full throttle(both runs) Max Power was 123.04 Max Torque was 71.25 I'll try to get the print outs up asap. Stock ECM, Stock Air Filter, 93 Octane, Intake Solenoid still in the bike, and just the HPE Race pipe without db killers. Sorry no base line with stock pipe. Rlvh, the numbers are without the DB killers. My buddy that ran it for me said that the numbers were not that much different. They don't take away that much power. |

Blackflash I ride my wife and she said it started to get a little hot on her right foot but she just held her foot out over the hot exhaust gases. However, we are in Florida, and temp has been colder than normal this year. |
