Mountain, you're my hero!!! I think I've now made my decision I just hope they still have some left when I get some money in a couple of weeks. Makes me wish I'd waited before scrapping my D&D link pipe to fit this new one. Curious of how it would change the sound of it like yours did. BTW your bike looks REAL slick, at some angles it looked like you had a blue airbox on it as well. Great job! |

I dont know why they dont include the info about the bank angle sensor with the ECM... I am getting the bucking you are talking about. not pleasant |

i installed my ECM today. FYI there was a ton of historic codes on it. I cleared the codes, reset AFV and TPS. test rode. hopefully unplugging the BAS like mountainstorm suggests will make it ridable. |

Ok just got back from a test ride after unplugging the bank angle sensor. Bike started right up 25 degrees out. Bucking is gone. bike feels real strong. Didnt do a lot of riding because it is 25 degrees out and ice/snow patches, but I think I will order another one for my R. |

Hey how do you clear the historic codes? Glad the BAS info helped. |

yeah the BAS info helped a lot. it was trying to kill me like you said. i have access to a digital tech so I rode up to work and cleared the codes and did the AFV and TPS reset. I dont think there is another way to clear them. I just saw the new catalog from the dealer show last week and they do have a code reader now that retails for $150 and you can clear codes with it I think. I was thinking about buying one. |

Just took mine out for about 30 minutes today. I can't believe how much stronger the bike feels. I mixed it up a bit with twisties and highway riding. I found that WOT is pointless until 5th and 6th gear though. I love this ECM!!! |

You can clear codes with a $40 cable and ecmspy, i've done it. You can also change the rear AFV, but not the front, lol! Has anyone with a completely stock bike ordered a race ecm????????????????? |

i just ordered another one for the 1125R I am picking up on tuesday weather permitting. It will be stock for at least a few minutes. |

Will be curious to see those dyno results as well as what the MPG is now with them during a steady cruise or just the AVG numbers. |

can somoe explain the bank angle senser unplugging? why do you do that? |

Bank angle sensor (BAS) wire is used to connect to an electronic shift on our race ECM. It cuts the engine as soon as the e-shifter is triggered. When put on a bike with a BAS hooked up to that wire, it picks up the varaiations in signal from the BAS and thinks you are shifting. Sorry, we hadn't run them on bikes that had BAS; most racers immediately take them off. |

does unplugging the BAS cause it to throw a code and warning light? |

thanks for the heads up Anony, we appreciate it. It is SO nice being able to get these ECM's again. (BIG GRIN) I almost wish I had kept my '08 ULY, but I'm having so much fun with the XB12 now, and I hardly ride the CR anymore! |

if the ecm is plug and play, why the TPS and AFV reset? Also, can't you reset the TPS without the digi-tech? |

Yes you can reset it manually. I did the afv and tps basically because I can. Lol I always reset the afv when I load a ECM with a new map |

> I would just rather not have to do a hoobajoob w/zip ties and such to my throttle plates and add resistor plug to keep engine light off. If ECM would disable it. Then no worries. The only thing you need to avoid the CEL is the resistor plug. If you don't care about the weight, zip ties or lightness of throttle action, simply unplug the noid and plug in the dummy resistor. |

Mountainstorm & Hdwrenchtx, any pop on deceleration? Thanx for all your input |

Not during my short ride. Hopefully will get to ride it more tomorrow |

gootch, I noticed no pop on decel. I rode for about a half hour today with the race ecm. I noticed accel is a lot smoother as well. The bike is easy to cruise also |

No Pop here either, but I also sealed the exhaust with Copper RTV. |

Hmmm, wonder how this would perform on the exhaust I built. Might hafta finagle some finances around to get me one. |

Can anyone comment on throttle response? Mine has always felt a little twitchy at low throttle openings in the lower gears and I'd like it to be a smoother transition. Not sure if that is a tune thing or not. |

D_Adams; why not solicit for testers who will be getting race module as well? dannybuell |

I want to see for myself. I have my own baseline runs for comparison, now I'm just thinking out loud. However, if you would like to do some testing and have the ecm..... hmmmmm. |

we need a dyno overlay between an OHESSBEE tune and the race ECM. That honestly would be a huge determining factor for those of us who already have the alternative tune. |

**** NOTE **** Most dyno data represents WOT maximum power. EBR mapping addresses critical partial throttle drivability. This is not dictated by emissions requirements. When trying to stay connected to what is happening at the edge of traction, the feeling to the rider and behavior of the engine is everything. Feel and control of traction = confidence. There is MUCH more consideration regarding on track performance embedded in EBR's map construction. Starting and warm-up strategies, correction tables, throttle transition character ( accell AND decell ), engine braking behavior, torque production throughout the rev range and throttle position, etc. Building a map on a dyno is only part of the puzzle. WOT power graphs represent WOT power. Discussing power gains @ 4000 rpm at 100% throttle is irrelevant. How the engine responds @ 3% throttle when cracking open the plates mid-corner at the edge of traction is very important. EBR will strive to implement the DECADES of racing experience into every product. If the end user feels the Race ECM mapping improves his/her personal experience, that's money well spent. I'd bet the power gains will make them smile as well. Again, no engine management system (or Map) will be a "one size fits all". The end user must consider if their bike configuration is within the stated specification. Communication is the key here. Planning your upgrades to work as a complimentary system will pay off in the end. Call and let Erik's guys help you eliminate frustrating variables. The EBR data base for popular component combinations will grow for sure - just keep in mind the parts for sale through EBR have been developed through the above process. EBR sells what they race and race what they sell. DSMcG (Message edited by DSMcG on January 31, 2010) |
