I've read that resetting the TPS is simple. With the key on bike not running twist the throttle full open and hold it there 1 second, close it ditto and repeat a total of three times. And I am jealous. Mine is not here yet and there's a blizzard forecast this weekend. (Message edited by mountainstorm on January 28, 2010) |

OK, this whole race ECM option from EBR is starting to burn a whole in my pocketbook. Red, what implications will replacing the ECM have on the speedo unit. If all the data is stored in the ECM won't your mileage go back to 0? Not that its a big deal or anything...just wondering if the bike goes back into a learning mode. Let us know when you turn the key would ya! |

Does it come with instructions? Is it closed-loop in cruise mode? Thanks Chris |

Based on the receipt price, this appears to be a pre-programmed ECM and does not include the programming tools, correct? ac |

You need to install it now and let us know how it runs. Or you could ship it to me, at my expense of course, and I'll try it for a month and let you know how it runs. I'll then send it back and order my own if I feel the need. |

I received an email from EBR regarding the plug and play ECM option (Y0152.08AZ). "Kevin, We do have them in stock and can ship within a day or two (program must be loaded on the blank ECM). The map does use the O2 sensors but can also run without. If no O2 sensor is connected it reverts to a fixed map. Note that if you run leaded fuel it is not advisable to use the O2 sensors. The loaded map is for our race exhaust but it works very well with other open race exhausts of similar dimensions. It will run with the stock exhaust but not optimally. The speedo cluster holds the the mileage info from what I was told by the Buell tech today. He was really interested in why I wanted to know. |

It will run with the stock exhaust but not optimally That's interesting, I wonder if they feel that the stock ECU runs optimally with the stock exhaust (i.e. i wonder what he means by optimal) |

Just a guess, but I would imagine it would run a bit rich with the stock pipe. |

That'd make a pleasant change |

Where is the rev limiter of a race ECM - 11.000 rpm? And what comes first at the limit, the fuel or the ignition cut? (Message edited by Highscore on January 28, 2010) |

Great thread and great questions . Mountainstorm will clear alot of these questions up as he offered to dyno his bike and give stock and race ecu dyno pulls. Two thumbs up guys keep the good questions coming. And remember to post all the dyno runs and combinations you use in the dyno charts thread. This will give webbers a heads up on what works and what doesn't. |

One item here Blackflash is from your post on the "race ECM available..." other thread a while back. You were concerned as to weather the EBR ECM would adapt to varying conditions as in going to different parts of the country or going up in elevation. You like the O**ther guys tune for the ability to change AFV's wherever you go. Now with this quote from EBR: "We do have them in stock and can ship within a day or two (program must be loaded on the blank ECM). The map does use the O2 sensors but can also run without. If no O2 sensor is connected it reverts to a fixed map. Note that if you run leaded fuel it is not advisable to use the O2 sensors." It seems as though it will not only adjust to varying conditions including altitude but you could remove 02 sensor input if you like without having to change AFV's. Do you not have to have a laptop with input to the ECM to do that with the O** tune? With the EBR ECM for occasional racers or track day's merely run few laps for the ECM to adjust for that area and air then remove the 02 sensors for a then adapted fixed map. If it just reverts to a fixed map, that might be fine also. I believe it would also adapt when installed in any part of the country to that areas environment keeping the 02's on. If I used it I would leave the 02's connected to better adapt to changes in elevation here but the barostat should do that anyways. Just some more FWIW. Bob |
