dairyland wanted 1100.00 a year coverage on my 1125cr for liability i had been using them on my 06 xb12ss,full coverage, 900.00 a year, there reasoning was it was a new bike so insurance was higher even though i was switching from full coverage to liability only...i am 54, a homeowner, no tickets for lot of years...i went with progressve for 248.00 a year |

I called Progressive this morning to get a quote. For the 2006 FXDB Harley and 2010 1125r they were quoting $1460 for both for the year. Quoted using 50/100 liability and $1000 deductible full coverage. I'll be sticking with Dairyland for almost have the price at $798 a year. |

I decided to shop around for insurance, and it was a huge pain in the ass. So many sites want you to call for a quote. In 2010, are they serious? Progressive had me paying $1230 a year for $250 deductibles for: '08 1125R '06 Daytona 675 '91 CBR600F2 '03 DR-Z400E I'm 34, married, a home owner and have a clean record. Markel and Dairyland both had online quoting systems, unlike Allstate, GEICO (which did have a quoting system but the 1125R was not an option when I selected Buell.. WTF), Nationwide and State Farm. Markel was more expensive than Progressive, at $1600 a year for three of those bikes (not including the DRZ) with $500 deductibles. Dairyland was a big surprise--for the three bikes minus the DRZ and with $250 deductibles, they wanted $633 a year. So, they got it. I hope the coverage is good, and I also hope I don't have to use it! |

American Family Insurance: premium $213 I also have 3 cars and a house with them, which gives me a little bit of a discount. I'm 31 years old, and live in Ohio. My policy is from January 2010 to October 2010 bodily injury 50,000/100,000 property damage 50,000 comprehensive 1,000 deductible collision 1,000 deductible uninsured bodily 50,000 / 100,000 under insured bodily 50,000 / 100,000 medical expense 1000 each person 100 deductible. Hope this helps, they were cheaper than the other places I looked at |

29 years old no at faults ever and a less than 10 over ticket a little longer than 3 years ago, have the following coverage from geico, 750/yr Bodily Injury Liability(BI)25/50$54.00 Property Damage Liability(PD)25M$35.00 Medical Payments(MED)REJ$.00 Personal Injury Protection(PIP)REJ$.00 Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury(UMBI)REJ$.00 Comprehensive(COMP)1M$140.00 Uninsured Motorist Property Damage(UMPD)25M$36.00 Collision(COLL)1M$474.00 Towing(TOW)NON-DED$10.00 Funny thing, Dairyland was originally quoting roughly 1400 for the same coverage. I called them up to let them know of the "deal" (less of a butt probing) from Geico, they re-ran some stuff saying it would probably be lower...NOPE! It actually jumped to a hair or two above 2k/yr. I think that Geico may count the bike as a street bike vs. a sport bike, but then again I'm not in insurance and that is just a wild guess. |

If you are in NJ, WV, PA or OH I definitely recommend getting a quote with Rider's Insurance. We just started using them at the shop and there prices are AMAZING! I'm 22 and got my '09 R covered with comprehensive for $377 a year! There prices on other bikes are good too! Got a customer a quote on a '06 XL1200L for $81 a year. |

In the "giving them equal time" department, and not being particularly happy with Harley, I do have to say that they found me a very good deal on insurance. Give them a try, you aren't out anything. |

I also got a better deal thru Harley. I was paying $375 on my Uly with Progressive, who quoted me $1082 to add the 1125R. Harley got me the two for $507 a year. By the way, I'm 55 with a clean record. |

Insurance is such a scam. I've never carried full coverage on a motorcycle that I own outright. I don't see the point unless you use it as your primary transportation. I drop my cars down to liability once they are paid for. It helps that i have not caused and accident since 1990. |

I think I figured out why I got a good rate on my 08 1125R. Vehicle classifications is not: "hyperformance - fully aerodynamic styling; full fairing with racing technology; track-ready performance; JAPANESE or EUROPEAN manufacturer; displacement greater than 750cc" so it's: "standard - basic two-wheeled street motorcycle that does not fit any other classification."
