Anyone mount an aux fuel cell on an 1125R? I would like to mount a 5 gal cell on the rear tail section. I was thinking of using the pillion seat base and making a plate to mount the cell to. Any thoughts on doing that? I was figuring on plumbing it into the main tank drain. | ||

I've seen it done several times on the Uly's, but not on the 1125. Your idea with using the seat sounds great. You can pickup cheap stock seats on ebay, then yank off the padding to customize it for your mount. The Uly riders have the line run down to the fuel vent like you described. | ||

Good idea, but i dunno if i would want to ride my R for that long non stop, now of course if you just cutting down on fillups i can see it.. What about safety issues? having a fuel tank on my back side would worry me a bit, in the event of an accident | ||

Most touring guys (think iron butt riders) don't think about the safety aspect as the main goal is to log thousands of miles with the goal of limited stops. The crashes of those guys are few and far between anyway. | ||

LOL - I doubt it's any more dangerous than having two enormous reciprocating pistons thrashing about between your legs... | ||

Even with the touring seat I still look forward to that 100 mile fuel stop. I must be getting old. | ||

Well, I only have about 650 miles on the bike so far, but have two 190 mile non stop tanks on it. I find the bike very comfortable. Anyone have a spare pillion seat they want to sell? Do the 1125 pillion seats interchange with any other models? | ||

The 1125 seat interchanges with the XB12R and XB9R seats. I would like to have one too. | ||

Pump your tires to their max, 42psi IIRC. Two 3k+ trips on my 11, steady smooth riding I get ~200 miles a tank. I covered 930 miles in 24 hours on the last leg of the second trip. Z | ||

Get a stock seat, but don't use the stock pan as a base - it's not very strong and rather flimsy. I tried this when I built my luggage setup. The better idea is to cannibalize the seat for the mounting tongue and loop and affix them to a fabricated metal base. | ||
