I went out and tried a set of the BT-003rs tires and I like them. I know they got some bad press but I don't find them bad at all.

I was looking to save a little money off the Pirellis as they are a bit expensive. I found the 003rs for about 100.00 dollars cheaper then the corsa 3s so I thought what the hell give it a try.

I have around 700 miles on them now and I don't really have anything negative to say. I use them for weekend canyon runs and I don't think I will every out ride them at least on a public road.

I push them hard when I get the chance and they seem to hold the road just as well as the corsa 3s did. They have good turn in, well really they feel just like the corsas did for turn in. The front tire of the 003s feels sticker then the Corsa did but again that could be in my head.

I have not tried them on the track. Maybe that is a different story, but as for the street I am sold.

The only down side I have is that at 700 miles (95% canyons) they are showing more wear then the Pirellis. I don't think I will get more then 2000 miles out of them. I got 3000 out of the Pirellis but that could be because I am more comfortable on the bike now and brake later/gas sooner.

All and all for the price I don't think you will be unhappy with them. And if you don't plan on doing any track days (I have not tried them yet) I don't think you will notice much if any performance difference from these and the stock Corsas.

I really liked the Pirellis and didn't really get a chance to push them till closer to the end of their life because I had just got the bike and didn't really get it set up the way i liked it at the start. So I might give them another go after this.

Where did the BT-003RS get bad press? I've had them at the track on a ZX-14 in 100+ degrees, and my 1125CR at 50- degrees, and I've been extremely happy both times.

I don't like the BT-003 at all. Very slow steering, and enormously difficult turn-in under hard braking. That cruiser front tire is too tall and too round for the stock set up of the 1125r.

I found them VERY sticky, but also only lasted half as long as a Corsa III, making them considerably more expensive in the long run.

I's say they are fine for the street, but would look for a different tire for the track.

My other major issue with Bridgestone in general is the carcass is so stiff they are VERY difficult to mount and unmount using my changer. Considering I go through 2 sets of tires a month, this is a major consideration for me.

Obviously, tires are like women. There's all kinds, and all sorts of preferences.

Try the BT-016 next, it wears longer and is just as sticky.

J, gotta question your comments. When I first put 003's on my track bike they were turn resistant. But all I had to do was raise my forks in the clamps and the problem was gone.

I like them cause of the traction they give coming out of turns. The corsa's were way too easy to spin. I'm lucky I didn't high-side before I got the 003's.

Why question them when we are saying the same thing?

You dropped the front end to make the steer correctly. I said the tire is too tall for the stock set up.

Didn't realize that was the same thing. BTW I won't be using 003's anymore. I'm switching to slicks next month. Their contingency is good at my home track, so might as well.

I'd like to come out to that track and try it out some time... any open track days in early March?

I just worry about the life of the 003. I have a set of 016's that have three track days and 2000 commuting miles and they are shot. At least for track use. I could probably get another 1000 miles on the street. My front even is flat in the middle.

I've been pretty happy with Diablos in general. I've used the original Diablos on several bikes with positive results. More recently, I have been opting for the Pilot Power 2CTs. I will probably go with a set of those once the Corsa IIIs are worn out. They turn in very neutrally and easiy and grip well. I haven't had them on a bike long enough to know how long they will last, though.

I am thinking about trying the Pilot Power rear with a 2ct front. From what I have heard is that the 2ct rear gets greasy when it gets hot.

The BT-016 is *not* just as sticky as the BT-003RS. I rode them back-to-back (well, two weeks apart) at Willow Springs and tore the hell out of the 016, with lots of drift (I was aiming for the *inside* of the curbing as the bike moved so much on the tires.) You can really feel when you move over onto the outer tread compound on the 016. The 003RS didn't chunk, blue, or drift hardly at all in comparison.

J, I wish you would come out. I'm the only 1125 there. I did see a guy with an XB type with giant cc's. Not very fast and blew up.

March 13 & 14 is the first race weekend, meaning Saturday will be a track day. In April the track starts with two weekends a month. A two day trackday weekend and a trackday/race weekend every month. Checkout Arroyo Seco Raceway when you have a chance. I look forward to seeing you there.

Looking at the schedule now... March is a possibility, but oh wow that sure is a LONG way away!

Jim, how do you like those headlight inserts? Are they the Buell Racing variety?

BT-016 felt good but turn in was slow and took a lot of effort plus the front got terrible side wear...

The BT-003RS is supposed to be a step above the 16... but most reviews I have heard said on the track (fine on street, just lots of wear) it slides much to easy and would be good for someone learning how to control a slide at the track but is not a high grip tire.

The BT-003 DOT race tire is a different story.

I would look at the Dunlop Q2 guys.

Not as cheap as bridgestone but a lot cheaper then Pirelli.

I have a few hundred miles on mine on the street and they grip very well, wear seems fine and the turn in is very linear but much sharper then the BT-016's were.

Also I have heard they are the best street tire at the track, have heard of hard A pace in 60 degree weather and some of the magazine reviews (less reliable) say they work well at a hard pace even in the very hot weather.

Jim, one of the racers from Arroyo just moved to Dallas. He sounds like he wants to cut down on racing but will be making some trips back to Arroyo.

I hear what you say about track time. I haven't been on a track since June 13 last year! Got hurt, in hospital, off work 5 1/2 months and then the sponsor (wife) support went away. But I'm determined to be back at Arroyo regularly starting in Feb. This could be a great year!
