1340 -

What do you mean by "under the filter"?
More clear... please

You will normally find dirt, gravel, leaves, paper, etc. in the airbox, "outside" the filter.

If everything is right, the inside of the filter area (or past the filter), everything should be clean.

If not, either the filter has holes in it or it wasn't seated properly.

I think the whole airbox/filter setup is crap, but i'm no engineer or airbox designer (is that a job?).

Anyway, it would have been done better imo. I found some specs of dirt that got past the filter on my bike. I live on a dirt road, so dirt gets in the airbox all the time.

The rubber bands holding the filter on are junk and the whole design seems flawed to me. Why can't we put two cone style filters on each throttle body. If dirt gets past that, then you know it's the filters fault.

I had the same problem with my xb. The filter did not have a good seal and a few grains of sand would get past it unless I smear heavy grease on the top and bottom of the filter.

I think i'll check mine again tomorrow before I ride. If I see sand, then i'm going to ditch the airbox and try to attach some conical filters, if possible. Sucking sand in the motor can't be good.
