Hi guys, just got my fairing kit from Catalyst Composites, for those that have fitted these fairings, did you make any brackets for the bottom section of just rely on the 6 fasteners that hold it to the top section, as mine is currently touching the back of exhaust at the belly pan? anyone else have this issue... if so what did you do? apart from trimming it off and loosing the oil catch function i cant see a way round it? cheers in advance wkd1 |

Martin(Wkd1), I bought just their bottom one piece lower and adapted it to the stock air pods. (see profile picture) I made brackets just under the pods and also used two brackets on each side. I also used Dzus fastners for easier removal for service. I did have to cut the rearmost end of the lower to clear the stock muffler but have since re-installed as my new muffler clears fine. Hope this helps somewhat. I really like the Catalyst for it is fiberglass and with insulation I have had no problems with heat as some have had. Bob |

Just got the call that my set will be shipped tomorrow. Post up some pictures if you get a chance I would like to see/hear what you had to do to get it on. |

You can shoot Mario at Glendale HD/Buell a note and ask (vendor page). His 1125R was used by Catalyst to develop the tooling and that is the fairing that Mario uses on BOTH street and race. |

My fairing is off the bike right now so I can't get you detail pictures, but I made a small strap from back left of fairing pan up to existing fastener on bike. Only minor fairing notching was required. I'll post a picture when I can. T |

Is this about the best way to go for race bodywork? I've been looking for a belly that would interface with the factory Buell lowers, but not finding anything. So, now my thought is to get full race bodywork and sell the Buell lowers. I would feel bad crashing the Buell ones. |

Thanks for the answers guys... I’m away till Sunday here (UK) but will take some pics then. 99buellx1 the idea is to fully fair the bike and then vinyl wrap it with a EBR logo amongst some others, (just waiting permission to use the logos) and use it on the street and tracks.. I don’t need it for transport so it’s only for fun.. just got new posting details so I will be away on Jan the 2nd for a couple of months, so there is no rush now, and I can leave the bike at the vinyl company. Slaughter, thanks for the info, I will try Mario. For info the quality of the kit is good and the service from them was great, and I think that its good value for money. Wkd1 |

Cris, Dzus fasteners are 1/4 turn fasteners that are either plastic or metal and usually mount using pop rivets that make it easy and quick to remove or attach a panel of some sort, and are secure enough to be used at Bonneville. Usually sold at speed shops but McMaster-Carr industrial supply has a few different kinds. Bob |

Kurvey Girl ROCKS. I use the Ducati-type fasteners. The really cool thing is all you need is a drill. The female side just slips over the edge, the male has a plastic washer that holds it in place. Each fastener has a D-ring that folds back nicely. Well worth the $$$ If I get off my lazy A$$, I'll take some pics. |

Wkd1 - Can you get me a better picture of the belly where the kickstand is? I'm wondering if it will pass tech at the racetrack yet allow me to run my kickstand on the street. |

Craig(99buellX1), below is a picture of how much I had to cut the Catalyst lower to use a kickstand. Seems like its still enough to contain oil but I sure it would be up to the scrutiny of the tech. inspector. I cut just enough to barely clear. Bob

Bob - Thanks! I think that should work just fine, hell, I'll just replace the piece that I cut out when I race with pop rivets or something. What did you use to make the cut? It looks real clean. |

Craig, I used a small diamond cut off wheel in a dremel tool at low speed after tracing an approximate line to cut, then a small drum sander also in the dremel to finish the edge, all before painting. For my track days here at Millers; not racing, being a street bike, they do not require oil containment so I'm good to go. Bob |

that's strange... mine looks like that and i had to make no cuts at all?.... i did take a few pics so will look on phone to see if there is any better ones of that area if not i will try to get a better pic next time im home? Wkd1 |

I got a response from Catalyst also. They said that having the kickstand hole cut will still allow the bike to pass tech. I'm going to figure this is subjective to the person that is approving the bike, but it makes me hopefull! |
