I just picked up an 1125 CR last week. I have noticed that it surges @ low rpm's (<4000), especially in first gear. Is this normal, or should I have the stealership take a look at it? |

Ask them what the firware is on your bike. I just got the newest 152 flash wednesday it is a keeper it will get rid of the low rpm surging. Not completely but a big improvement. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/513831.html?1258645354 (Message edited by freezerburn840 on November 20, 2009) |

Downshift. |

> Downshift. It's the best advice, and it solves all sort of "problems" with the bike, but it's like asking someone to shoot their mother around here. |

If you're in 1st and going through your neighborhood, a park or a parking lot then there's no where to downshift to AND riding around at 4k+ rpms can be problematic. Why not get the bike right so you can ride HOW you want WHEN you want? |

Is O5Z still the latest flash for the '08? I finally had it done a few weeks ago and it still sucks < 5k in 1st-3rd gear. I'm too broke now for the "other" tuner mods out there at the moment. |

You have an 1125cc V-twin between the frame rails. 60+mm throttle bodies feed it. This is so it can be happy at high RPMs where it makes horsepower. Intake velocity goes way down at low RPMs and it is just really hard to meter fuel properly. Just downshift. How long do you people ride around neighborhoods? I do 25-30mph for no more than 5 miles. My bike is happy in 1st the whole time. ac |

Philly, I believe 52 is the Cr and 62 is the R. Can someone confirm? |

lol at all the people suggesting you ride at over 4000 rpm ALL the time. it's an easy fix so why live with it? as people have said, get the latest flash and it will improve big time. |

What they said about the latest flash. Looks like you have an 09 CR. Got my 08 R flashed yesterday (062 for the 08), now it's totally smooth at all speeds. In traffic, I can now ease away from stops at 2000rpm, then pull smoothly up to the next light. There's like 6 lights to go through in the half mile surrounding my dealer, so it got a good test yesterday on the way home. |

I wonder about all this flashing stuff,, I'm concerned about what I could lose from what I already have. What I'm getting at is many have went to "the latest flash" mostly because they didn't like the bucking at lower rpms. I just wonder how many of "those people" have rung this bike out to over 150mph and back and are suggesting the "latest flash" on here. Just wondering,,, |

> Downshift It's pretty hard to downshift when you are in first. I'm pretty sure Erik Buell didn't invent a super secret 0 gear. Reading is fundamental |

If you are less than 4k in first you are CRAWLING. Use the clutch. ac |

Blazin- If your having problems above 4000 then you may have something else wrong with the bike. My 08 with the 5Z flash is smooth as silk at 4000 and I can cruise down to 3500 with no real problems. |

Limey, the 062 I mentioned is for the 08 bikes. There are actually 3 different ones out, 08R (062) flash, 09R flash (142), and 09CR flash (152). D |

if you are spending that much time at 150+mph speeds then i would suggest a professional tune on a dyno instead. |

Get it reflashed. Mine was impossible to ride in 1st gear at any rpms below 5500. I have the 141 flash now and 1st gear is no problem. it will still surge up to 5500 rpms or so, but it's much better. Mine actually surges less if I up shift to 5th and cruise at 3500rpms. That's going about 55mph though. |

141 flash is new for 09' CR 49 state models, had mine done a while back and it made a big difference, no surging, runs cooler and good power. |

Metalrabbit, Ive taken my CR to 152 indicated on speedo with the 152 flash, feels just as strong as with 141 flash up high, but smoother running down low and almost no surging! |

hmm, well I'm feeling better about giving it a shot. The wrench I use at my dealer owns a CR and is very good, so I'll give him a call. |

I also have 142 and am very happy with it. I would love to see a dyno with the 142 calibration. |
