Did the 08R have the gear indicator option. If so where the heck is it? |

Nope. 09 instrument clusters only. Some 08s got replacement clusters under warranty; all were replaced with 09 units. |

Hey the 08 does have one. Its based on the neutral indicator. Besides how often are you going to get over 3 gear anyway. Rrrrrriiiiipppppppp |

I like the 08 cluster better, it goes back to Instant MPG without me having to toggle it like on my 09. Van, I don't need the indicator either, I only use 2nd and 6th most of the time |

I haven't put it on my 1125's yet, but I got a Veypor VR2 computer on my XB and it works fantastic. A gear indicator is only one of its features.

What do you NEED a gear indicator for? I never had one and when I got the CR I thought it would be nifty, I find it useless. If I need/want more torque I downshift. If I want to lower revs I upshift. Having some computer tell me which gear I am in seems silly. ac |

My last bike was a 2008 ZX6-R and i loved the gear indicator for plodding around, i have gottan so used to having it, im really missing it now, plus the 1125r has so much torque im forgettin which gear im actually in. This http://bristolkitcarclub.co.uk/smf2/index.php?action=pages;sa=6 does look like a great bit of kit, but i would never use all the gizmo's, im just after a simple gear indicator. The same reason you NEED the AT or MPG readouts... |

Don't need AT or MPG...in fact, I never use them. I WISH I could get CT and V on the same screen. Those are the only 2 things in there I find useful at all. Yeah, so much torque so why does it matter what gear you are in? If you want to go faster twist the throttle. Not enough? Downshift and twist again. Repeat until front end is light and flashing lights appear behind you. ac |

So...*has* anyone hacked the cluster software yet? I would love a chance to 'reprogram' my selections for what are displayed. Like battery V at the same time as gear indicator (OK, I'm a dork...it's cool to look down and see it!). |

I want mine to show instant mpg, gear, and voltage at the same time. Wouldn't be hard once the thing is broken into. Could also change it's startup to say "Buell - Was from Wisconsin, USA" |

I do find myself looking at the gear indicator even though it is pretty pointless ... Maybe it's the novelty. I've taken to toggling to the coolant temp screen just to break myself of looking down so often. But for the sake of keeping my license, I still do look down at the speedometer quite often. These things are a bit faster than I'm used to - Good stuff! Mike |

5th and 6th are pretty darned close in ratio on this bike, so I catch myself looking down on the highway before I toe-up -- just in case I'm already in sixth (being old, I can't remember way back to the last time I shifted -- lol). |

I can count, and I can ride my tubers and my XB just fine...but I'm also a gadget-dork. If it's there, I use it. It's just...neat |
