Please allow me to interupt your regularly scheduled Buell chat forum for a moment. It seems I may have unintentionally confused some about my intentions and insulted others in relation to my efforts to gain information related to our wonderful motorcycles in previous posts. First, and foremost if anyone took offense to anything I may have said. I apologize. I did not mean to single out engineers, constructions workers, or english lit professors for that matter. I am sorry I was too vague in my reasoning for creating said posts. Buell/Harley Davidson Motor company is not the fastest at making available information to dealer techs. Often times "new" tech tips and service bulletins are released months after the problems and fixes are encountered. Saint Louis, Missouri does not have very many Buell techs and has a smaller Buell customer base in relation to other parts of the USA. The internet is the fastest way for me to access information that may help my customers both old and new remain on the road and to minimize the time their "baby" stays in the shop. Many of my customers do not have the time and/or mechanical knowledge to diagnose and repair problems with their Buell. I do, and the more knowledge of problems encountered increases the speed with which the problem can be found. Many of you have been here since the begining...I would imagine the greatest source of information since there have often been inside anony posts. I have been working on Buells for years. Tubers, Xbs, blasts and the 1125s. The 1125 is the newest and youngest beast and still encountering new problems. For example the vent hole found in the head in a different thread. I have been to the milwaukee classes. Those, however do not include the problems that are seen in the field. Actually the first thing they do at those classes is to ask the techs what new problems we have encountered. I am often requested by our Buell clientele. I gladly put down the wrench on this harley to work on that Buell. I am not a mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, rocket scientist or even an automotive expert. I do not need to be. I have built my own hardtail Buell/sporty chop (Plain Jane) and recently purchased a white 1125r (Mystra) I am not the best with Excell..something I should look into to make a master list of problems like someone suggested. I may not have as someone put it "earned my stripes" here on this forum. Guess I will have to work on that. Please accept my apologies. And I do hope for a moment if anyone doubts my credibility as a technician you would reconsider. I do have the experience and I have nothing but my customers best interests at heart. Thanks for listening if you stuck around. Brian "Buzzie" Robertson Master of Technology Gateway Harley Davidson/Buell Saint Louis Missouri 63125 |

Buzzie, I missed what happened, but I am sorry if you got raked over the coals on here. You put new tires on my 1125R when I did a cross country trip last July/August. I could tell right away that you were a great asset to your dealership. We talked for a long while as a BIG storm rolled. I hit the road and almost got blown off the bridge going in to Illinois! I have since traded my '08 for an '09. Hit me up if you need any help and I will do my best. You took time out of your day to do my impromptu tire change and I won't mind returning the favor. Cheers, Eric |

Eric...I do remember that conversation. We all wondered if you missed that storm. Basically I am hitting folks up for any problems..that I can learn from that the motor company hasn't shared with the techs yet. Thanks for the compliment. Be sure to stop by on your next go round. |

I would like to add to this that Buzzie is a damn nice guy. He'll come out and actually talk to you if you need anything. I think that he really does care about Buells and the people who ride them. Actually, everyone at Gateway HD has been exceptionally nice to deal with. I just wish I would have bought my 1125 there. As it is, my bike goes there for everything else anyway. |

I think I understood your need/wants for info from the first post. Some didn't. The BadWeB is NOW the best resource for all of us for our Buells. I have "lived" on the 1125 forum here since August of 2007, Loretta was delivered to me December 18th, 2007. Rob hit it tho with the "herding cats" comment. Good luck, check the older archives for initial problems and solutions. Lurk and read a lot of archives. Welcome, hope you stick around, the Helicon and the rest of the bike are amazing. Buzzie, apologies should NOT be necessary. I get raked over da coals for an inadvertent comment on dis site........just a lot of steam. I find the RIDE is most comforting. My short 35yrs of riding is insignificant. What I know about BUELLS' only started with an XBRR. Unfortunately I feel there shall be much pissing & bitching until the realization that crying over spilled milk solves nothing. You shall find the credible sources and can enjoy the BS for what it is..... |

Don't let the masses beat you down. I read and agreed with the "children" thread. I didn't find myself any more annoyed with actual children after reading it, nor did I beat the first child i saw afterwards... So i figure no harm done. You are trying to do a good thing, and as usual - no good deed... Don't mind the folks that like to find an excuse to vent. Like a bunch of cats in a rocking chair factory sometimes! anyway - If i were closer i'd swing in and give you my business. There definitely are some great vendors and companies that still support Buell bikes. I can only see that thinning out in the future (hopefully not for long) which will make you stand out more. Good luck and don't let any of this get you down. |

Buzzie you are one of the select few on the site that will stand up for the work you do. Anybody can appreciate that. It looks like you are in the right place and frame of mind on tackling the motorcycle we cherish and love to ride. That's all that I am asking of dealers. Have guys in there that care about Buell's not just Harley's. If there were more mechanics like yourself that are open about their practices and want to learn as much as they can. I would give business to that dealer like standard services not just warranty work. |

When I belonged to the Ducati boards, I'd end most posts with "let the chiding begin ... ." Best way the get dumped on there was to say what fuel octane you ran, and no matter what, someone always called you an idiot. Still it usually brought out some good information, you just had to roll up your cuffs to wade through the BS. Deflector shields up! |

I am a member of a Ducati (Multistrada) site and I have to say there is not all the back and forth bickering that happens often on here. Especially in the 1125 section. I don't say that to offend anyone or put the site down so please don't take it that way. It's actually a Multistrada specific site not just a Ducati brand site. Maybe that's the difference. Really laid back and helpful attitude there. |

Brian: If you ain't got thick skin, don't play in the water. What you were asking was right on target and we tried to steer you in a safe direction but, some felt that it was too safe of a direction. The friction has all been resolved and the resultant bonfire has lit up the sky. I'll wave as I come by over Thanksgiving. I'll be visiting my Mom in U-City for a few days. Later Neil S. |

Someone's credibility usually reveals itself after a fairly short interaction. Direct and relevant questions are another giveaway. So is sincere curiosity and the ability to think outside the box. There is no need to apologize for lack of wall hanging "credentials" to "prove" someone's capability. It becomes self evident....reminds me of someone that used to have a sign hanging in his shop...said "best damn garage in town".. |
