I have a really nice cruz sport tool kit from my X1, but no matter how I try I can't fit it under the seat. For what it's worth, we tried test fitting the OEM branded tool kit as well and it just barely won't fit(not sure why? I thought the firebolt and 1125r tail sections were the same? Must be the subframe) I can fit my tools in my tailbag, but I don't always ride with one and with my look something will happen when I leave the bag at home. Any suggestions on what to squeeze in there? |

I'm sure I'm missing some 'must haves', but the only thing I've got in there is the one my '09R came with, and a small baggy (also holding my reg/ins cards) with some tie wraps, electrical tape, safety wire, extra rear bulb. Mike |

there's more space under the seat too, but you gots ta have yer basics... that being said; everybody's got their own kit list. each kit list can be suited for a different route/journey/commute. you need to feel secure with what u pack. some things I didn't think of at first: electrical tape, a plug kit, mini-vice grips (can be used as a shifter/peg) and don't forget motrin/gauze, etc. your MacGyver-ed bike will be of no use to you if you bleed/pass out |

That's about what I was thinking:mini vice grips, and electrical tape. I'm just wondering if there are any must haves in addition to what's in the factory "tool kit"(ha!) |

There's space for a regular size Craftsman Torx T27 screwdriver that fits lengthwise on the right side of the rear compartment with the handle going under the battery ground cables and the pointy end disappearing into a hole at the rear. It doesn't interfere with the stock tool kit which fits in the slot behind the battery. I can barely wedge a Rev-Pak tool kit wrapping up a few assorted small wrenches, 1/4" drive socket and selected bits, zip ties, pliers and allen wrenches in the remaining space there. Under the rider's seat unfortunately, the Cali Evap container takes up all usable space there. |

Sparky, if you get a chance think you could get a pic. of the revpak contents and how it fits under the seat? I might pick one up and see if I can fit my cruz set(or most of it) in there. Thanks |

At my age, I leave room for three glasses cases: rx sunglasses, night glasses and regular glasses. There's only ever two pairs in there but that's it. (Well, a double zip-loc baggie for papers.) For emergency, cell phone and credit cards. Actually, in my emergency, it was other people's cell phones, tow truck and ambulance so papers and my regular glasses were all I needed. |

Just an FYI, most of the screws are T30. T27 was on the XB's. Being that I am within 50 miles of home for 95% of my riding, I don't carry anything other than the factory mini tool kit that came with the bike. If a situation arose that I broke down, I would use my AMA card and get a tow should I not have any other options. For when I am going more than a few hours away, I bring some more tools like one of those allen key sets and some basic sockets. |

there is a diamondback(mountain bike, bicycle) multi-tool which fits in the palm of my hand and also under the seat. can probably get it at wal-mart. it has a variety of allen-key drivers, a small phillips and flat head driver. i use one of the hex-heads to remove the fairings. |

I'll be adding: Very compact, right-angle, ratcheting driver with Torx, phillips, and straight bits. Also adding a thumb drive with copy of owner's manual, specs I've found, tech articles that I found useful, etc. I'd love to get the service/parts manuals on there, but I'm unwilling to cut the binding on mine (not after spending $150 on the set) and feed them through a sheet-feed scanner. |

Gbackus, here's what's stuffed in there and, mind you, it barely fits under there.

Hm, weird. I've had the seat/tail off my CR a few times for routing heated clothing plug, battery tender plug, installing the '10 LED taillight...all those screws have been T27 for me. Haven't gotten into the airbox yet, though. I haul a ridiculous amount of crap in the Uly with its monster luggage set - tools, tape, zip ties, tire plug kit, spare clutch cable, cable lube - but the CR is strictly no-frills. I have the factory stuff with a laminated copy of the suspension chart inside, my registration card....and my cell phone and mastercard are always in my pocket. Covered. If I take it on a longer trip, spares and tools go in the tank bag |

Thanks, Froggy, for the T30 update on the 1125 Torx bit. Took care of that by changing out the T27 for a T30 bit. All is well in SoCal again. |

Does anyone have a source (I'm betting McMaster-Carr has them) of real high quality Torx head fasteners. I'm wanting to change out some of them on my Ulysses this winter. |
