Tbolt has an 08, which uses a different flash from the 09, M3HUS062 may be the latest and greatest for 08. The 08 R, 09 R, and 09 CR all have separate flashes. If M3HUS062 is indeed current, this seems to be the list: 08R = M3HUS062 09R = M3HUS142 09CR = M3PUS152 (Message edited by tpoppa on November 11, 2009) |

Hello. I had my ecu flash updated this morning after I read this thread a few days ago. I bought my 2009 1125R on 8/7/2009 and it has been running good for the most part. I did the 1000km service myself, so this is the first time I took it back to the dealer. My only problem has been hard starting a few times that required me to manually open the throttle while cranking. They charged me an hour of labor because there was nothing serious wrong with it and there was no recall notice. It ran like a champ all the way to work. Below is the information from the printout I asked for. Harley-Davidson Digital Technician II Vehicle: 2009 Buell 1125 1125R 11/12/2009 10:20:31 AM VIN ... Odometer: 1725 Reflash Before Calibration information before recalibration: Part Number: Y0152.1AM Calibration ID: B3HUS12Z After Calibration information after recalibration: Part Number: Y0152.1AM Calibration ID: M3HUS142 Description of New Calibration: Stock United States 1125R Non-Chargeable Calibration. Description of New Calibration: Stock OE Calibration (Message edited by hildstrom on November 12, 2009) |

Hildstorm, you'll like the new 142 flash but you probably could have gotten it without paying, unless you're being informally penalized for not letting them do the first scheduled service. Perhaps it was worthwhile to point out the "Non-Chargeable Calibration" line in the printout they gave you? Mike |

I have a 2008 1125R manufactured in May '08. I bought this 10/22/09 and am taking it in for first service on Saturday. To clarify: I can't have the #142 flash done because it's an '08? What # flash, if any, have come out since 10/22/09 for these? I have the tach vibration and slight surging at lower RPM's...Does anyone know for certain if the '08 flash #M3HUS062 came out after/before 10/22/09?...thanks (Message edited by ravnna431 on November 12, 2009) |

i went from M3HUS12Z to M3HUS142. i haven't developed an opnion yet on the performance. not enough miles on the new flash. but i did look at the numebrs and found that they use the same fuel and spark maps. just in a different location. kinda curious what else was changed that improved the drivability that most claim to have observed. |

I got my 152 flash on a 09'CR and it really sucks. Top end is gone and the bike feels really slugish. I was sick at that time so I had to get home in a hurry. Suggestions besides getting the the older flash put back in which they didn't tell me |

Vosnick52. Give the ECU a little time to sort itself out. It should be ok. |

had my cr flashed with the latest and it was a night and day difference. looking at the old flash on the paper work, i was at least two flashes behind. before the flash, it was un-rideable around town and i absolutely hated the bike. i couldn't believe a 2009 bike could run so poorly and i didn’t spot the issue because i rode the bike 150 miles home from the dealer all on the freeway. the bike runs awesome now. it's pretty disconcerting that the dealer would sell the bike in the prior condition without bothering to check if it had the latest updates. working on cars for a living, i can fully understand not checking for updates during the inspection when it arrives or when it is sold. granted with bikes there is a lower volume. |

Bcrawf68, I had a 45 minute ride home but it was at 100+ since I needed to get home and go to the hospital. I should probably do a consistent run around 4k for 20 min. and see if that helps. I did that with the jardine pipe and the F afv went from 100 to 110.5. The rear stayed at 100. |

I got my CR flashed to 152 before delivery so I don't have any before and after stories. I will say - just for giggles, I did the TPS reset procedure on it, and I think the low rpm (< 3.5k) operation smoothed out afterward. Seems really nice from 2k on up now. Overall I'm VERY happy with how the bike runs, but I'm still in my "don't exceed 6k rpm" break-in period (grrr....). |

Just so you guys know, its not the dealers call on charging or not charging you for the flash. When they connect to the bike there is a screen that pops up and it will tell the mechanic if it is a "chargeable" flash or not. I've had all the flashes done to my R and this last time they were pondering over charging me for it. Well they did not, the screen on their computer told them not to. |

moosestang, I currently have the D&D on the bike Well then you can hardly blame the latest flash as it was designed for the stock exhaust. just trying to keep it real. |

Why did the old flash work so well? That is also supposed to be for a stock exhaust. |

The stock exhaust might be able to work well with any tune, but yours can't. What were your AFV before and after? You are the only one to complain about the new flash being weak, so I assume it's the exhaust. |

I just bought an '08 and the dealer told me that it had been updated to the '09 fuel mapping. It seems a little abrupt (but not too bad)on and off the throttle under 4000rpm, but it probably won't make it through spring before it gets an aftermarket exhaust and re-tune anyway. |

just got the 152 flash on my CR . I was not complaining before, but pulling out from the dealership was a very noticeable difference, for the better. Bike was much smoother and controllable in first and second . Usually I would shift out of first as soon as possible because first is "harsh", for lack of a better word, get to second and roll on the gas. now first is actually a usable gear . so far very impressed Rick |

Here's a word of caution if you ask an HD dealer that's not up to speed on the 1125s to check your ECM flash version. I bought my 1125CR just two weeks ago from a dealer about 6 hours north, and I asked repeatedly if the bike had the latest ECM flash, as I have been following these threads in BADWEB. They assured me it was up to date, but could not tell me any numbers (i.e., confirm it is the latest "152" flash). So I still had my doubts. I am at 300 miles, midway through the break-in. It's fantastic and the throttle response makes my '03 Ducati 999 feel soft! But, I still want the smoothest response below 5000 rpm and more importantly the coolest running flash. So I took the bike to the local HD dealer. This dealer still has a 1125 and XB9 on the floor by the way, so they were a Buell dealer. Unfortunately, I had just changed the security system from off to to "Ask for PIN" - I wish I hadn't. Upon engine shutdown, the system sets a 4 min. timer; if you enter your PIN in the 4 min., it sets the immobilizer. Well, the tech saw the countdown timer, but instead of waiting, he plugged the diagnostic tool in while it was in countdown mode. The bike went into THEFT mode, and shut down. At this point, it thinks it is being tampered with and will not accept my PIN. He calls me into the garage, but I cannot get the bike out of theft mode. Then he spent the next 45 minutes talking to the Buell tech line. Finally, he was told to disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes. He tells me this may work, or the ECM may be permanently damaged. Well, the bike finally did exit theft mode. The tech told me that the flash in the bike was not the latest (as I suspected). And how would I know if my ECM was in fact damaged now? "I have no idea" he said. Thankfully, it started up and I was able to ride home. It seems to be running smoother below 4000. Great. Wonderful. That's two H-D dealers that I now have little confidence in when it comes to working on Buells. The dealer that sold me the bike (who also insisted I use only HD oil, not the quality Motul V300 I plan to use), and the local one. I do almost all my maintenance myself anyway. I have the shop manual, and based on this experience, I will be planning on doing the valve maintenance myself. It's easier than Ducati desmo maintenance anyway! |

As an owner of an old bevel drive ducati I used to do my own maintenance on that as well including the valvegear which was easy to get to, the 1125R requires a lot more work to actually adjust the valves if they need doing apparently - good luck |

So why is it that the HD dealers can't get this ECM thing right? At time of purchase I was assured that my bike had the most current flash, come to find out that it was M3HUS10Z. Dated 8-12-08. Now is that current? NO. They say bring it down. I get it back and they had installed, M3PUS141. What? Call Harley service, not only did they verify that it was an old version. They also informed me that there were 2 newer versions available. Both M3PUS152, and even newer, M3PUS11Z (although I can't find any record of it). I called the dealer, gave them my Call# from HD service. They said bring it back down. I feel like I have to do this every time they touch my bike. Since they wouldn't come down on the price of the bike initially, I had them throw in the full 5 year warranty. I don't know if I will use it. Do they think we are stupid? |
