I could tell even without riding it that the clubman bars on the CR were not going to be livable for my 51 year old bod, so figured I'd pick up the high bar accessory when I pick up the bike this week. Turns out they're back ordered. I'll know later in the week where I am in the queue - but my question, does pretty much everybody give up on the stock '09 bars immediately, and so with the close-out sale there was a huge demand spike? Since it looks like the high bars came standard on the '10's, I'm gathering the clubman bar didn't prove to be popular with much of anybody. | ||

A lot of stuff has gone on back order lately, its a combination of people trying to hoard and get their stuff, and then some of the vendors weren't shipping due to concerns over payment. Thats all sorted out now, so its just a matter of supply and demand. Oh, and the high bars are awful. I bought my bike with them pre-installed and after 5000 miles switched back to the clubmans. Night and day difference, anyone that actually likes the high bars should be shot. | ||

I love my high bars, and every magazine review I've read has loved them too. The clubmans would be great for track days, but if you slide back in the seat and lean forward, even the high bars would be fine. | ||

From Sport Rider magazine's review of the 1125CR: "Buell has a host of accessories available for the CR already, but a must-have for the average street rider is the upright handlebar kit. For $185, it includes the handlebar with extended brake lines and throttle cables. At anything but a track setting, these bars are the way to go for truly comfortable riding." As Buell learned, there aren't a lot of street riders who want to be in an uncomfortable full-on racing tuck all day long with no wind protection. That's why the 2010 1125CR was switched to the higher handlebars as standard. I rode with both. The higher handlebars work far better on the street, improving handling dramatically. You're free to disagree, because it's a free country and you're allowed to believe nutty, incorrect stuff (like that the clubman bars working better) if you want to. | ||

Wow, way to not see the sarcasm in my post. Yes, I know there are some that like the high bar better, but I am not one of them. I am more comfortable, can push it through turns easier, get less wind noise, and get about 4MPG more. If you like the high bars, good for you, put them on your bike and enjoy it. | ||

+1 on the clubmans. CR stands for cafe racer. I think they are comfortable but I'm young with no back problems. I do think people should give them a try before spending 200 bucks to ditch them. | ||

I've never ridden a CR with the clubmans. But I love the ergonomics of my CR with the high bars. The only time they are a problem is if you get HARD on the gas and you aren't "tucked in". It's hard to hang on! | ||

I have finished the job . The ergos are better but I think for carving the clubmans are better but I feel like a monkey "F"ing a football and I know it looks funny as all hell with the clubmans. I think I will keep the highbars. | ||

Bastard  Lime - Too soon to tell for sure, but my last tank got 4mpg higher than my last few tanks (42.59mpg vs 36.01 and 38.38). I noticed a dip recently as they switched to the winter blend of gas, so the clubmans keeping me out of the wind more seemed to help. Oh, 180lbs (Message edited by froggy on November 04, 2009) | ||

I love my clubmans! With the touring seat and the Uly pegs with the 1 inch drop my bike could'nt be more comfy! | ||

I'm not hating the clubmans, but I may buy a high bar setup just to try. The clubmans need some cushier grips though, that's for sure. | ||

Can anyone post a pic of the high bars and the clubman bars? I bought the high bars but have not put them on yet. This bike will not be on the track since I have a race bike. I would like to see the difference in a pic, please. |
