Since I bought the '09 CR outright, I just did liability only. However I decided this weekend to price full coverage and holy crap... Here I am over 40, clean driving record, and multiple bikes with 30 years of experience and the rate? just north of $1700 here in Texas with Progressive. So what are people paying for full coverage on average? (Yes, I know it varies based on state and city, but it might be worth looking at additional options). Wayne |

I just locked in mine at $350 per year for full coverage with a $500 deductible and high limits (including $75 or so off for layup credit in winter months). I also have a speeding ticket and am still in my 20's, so I was quite surprised. HOWEVER, I did a lot of shopping around beforehand, calling for quotes does not hurt and don't be afraid to let them know you are looking around. Ended up going with Cincinatti where I already have 4 cars and a house insured as well. |

Progressive is terrible. In my experience they have had the highest rates of anyone. It's a mystery how they are the country's biggest motorcycle insurer. |

I think the progressive rates are incorporated with injury coverage. State Farm does not cover injuries. I know because I have them. Thats why the rates are so low. Or its just because progressive sucks. You would think with all those stupid commercials they have you would get a better rate. Guess not. |

My State Fram policies have medical coverage, if that is what you are calling "injury coverage". I'll have to double check but I believe it is $100k. |

Just checked with my agent and State Farm does not offer medical insurance here in California for motorcycle policies. Now if an uninsured or insured motorist hit me and they were found at fault I would have medical coverage provided. If it is found that I was at fault with an unisured motorist I would be covered since they offer uninsured motorist coverage. Now if its my fault I would not be covered if the person I hit had coverage. However my agent has told me depending on what State you live in State Farm has different policies. So Gotlime you are getting a very good deal. Apparently your State has medical rolled in your motorcycle coverage. I guess here in California they figure since it is legal to split lanes there is more of a chance of an accident and of course every hour in Southern California is "Rush Hour". Now I dont know how other companies set their policies but to all that have State Farm thats what it is here. Now I am going to call a couple other insurance companies to find out. It could be that they all do it here in California. Just set my coverage up this morning on my '09 1125R thru Geico (who I have my '04 XB12S with) $318/yr, liability only-no comp. I carried comp on my '04 for 3 years and figured out what I paid extra for comp I could have replaced the bike. You can only have liability if you don't have a loan. If you have a loan, you must carry comp to protect the lender. Bodily Inj 100/300 ($40/yr) Property damage 50 ($17/yr) underinsured 100/300 (stacked) ($111/yr) uninsured 100/300 (stacked) ($150/yr) 44 years old, 1 ticket 16 months ago in truck. |

Froggy... methinks that Progressive really doesn't want to cover these bikes. Their quote was way out of line and your bill proves that. Wayne |

Wayne, Agreed on Progressive. 39 years old, clean driving record, two bikes already insured with Progressive. For full coverage with 500 dollar deductibles Progressive wanted 3900 a year! Geico is 770 a year for the same coverage. Guess who I went with, and guess who lost the business for the other two bikes? |

Just got mine yesterday is about 260 a year full coverage, state farm, 38 clean record, central florida, You will not be able to beat state farm for bike insurance, I found this out way back in 92 when I got my first sport bike. Only thing is you have to have a pretty clean driving record to sign with them (Message edited by AverageJoe on October 29, 2009) |

Prices are all over the place with Progressive though. I've got full coverage with Progressive with $500 deductable on the '09 cr I bought last week for $490 a year in central Illinois. My '07 Multistrada 1100 is only $270. I'm 50 and my last ticket was 2 years ago. About 3 years ago they wanted crazy money for my bikes though. |
