On 10/20 I committed to buy a CR from a local dealership here in NC. I appreciate that they're being thorough with the prep/recalls/upgrades, but..... First, they attempted to update the ECM. ECM wouldn't take the update and had to be replaced. Then, they discovered a fueling issue and replaced the fuel pressure sensor. That didn't fix the issue so they replaced the fuel pump. Evidently that involves quite a bit a disassembly.  They test rode the bike warm and all appears fine, but they want to try it cold. Okay. Well there has been sporadic misting the last few days that they call "rain". I was outside for several hours over the weekend and never used an umbrella or got wet. So I believe they still have to test ride it cold and finish the high bar install. And they're closed on Monday. This is the longest purchase process I've ever gone through. All my gear is sitting by the front door and I have no bike to ride.  | ||

Here's hoping you get it soon, and that it's right and ready to ride when you do. It must be torture reading the threads here without being able to experience it yourself. I know because I waited 5 days on mine! Mike | ||

Well look at it this way, you are getting potential issues sorted out before they leave you stranded. Fuel pump is a bitch to change. I haven't looked into it on the 1125's, but on the XB the service manual calls for removal of the swingarm to access the pump located at the bottom of the frame. | ||

From what I hear, the fuel pump on XB's does not require the swingarm to be removed. If you disconnect the rear shock from the swingarm, you can tilt the swingarm down a little and out of the way to remove the fuel pump. I would hope the same to be the case for the 1125R, although the 1125R has the drive on the left side of the bike? | ||

This is the longest purchase process I've ever gone through. Consider yourself lucky - after buying a tuber out of state and asking the dealer specifically about things, I showed up to find it unwashed, with a tail light out and a loose screw on the leg fairing. To top it off, after I got it home, I also found a crack in the saddlebag, wrong size tire which rubbed through the rear fender and a failing front isoltor, complete with a head mount bolt snapped off inside the head. I have a long road to recovery. | ||

That's the way I'm looking at it Froggy. And I'm not sure if it's neccesary, but the sales guy said they had to remove the swingarm to replace the fuel pump. | ||

Forggy/Prowler, I R&R the Fuel Pump on my 06 Uly. I did it with both the shock and swingarm in place. I had no issues getting it out. The biggest POS was not being able to drain all the fuel. I did the cycle thing on the pump with the hose until it didn't spray anymore fuel, but once I got the four bolts off and started to move the pump out.... well gas went all over the place. I am glad I had my floor pans down and shop rags on the pans. It was an interesting experience. | ||

Yes I simply stated the XB service manual calls for it. I just peeked in my 1125 service manual, it also calls for swingarm removal. Could you possibly get it done without removing it? Maybe. I just am simply telling you how the dealer is doing it. | ||

Nick, I probably used the wrong term. Don't worry. Your bike is perfect. Go out/home and hug it. Mine is sitting in the back of a Harley store, cold and lonely. It's the only Buell there. The last of it's kind. None of the air cooled bikes will talk to it........... | ||

 i originally wanted to get a r...but was scared of the 08 models...the cr was the next best thing. I know there were alot of 08 updates | ||

What 08 updates? You mean the software ECM updates? The 09's have them too, even XB models. | ||

08's have a gear (5th) updat,,ecm and i think clutch(or cover) | ||

5th gear thing is a Recall, ECM was the only thing that has updates. Clutch covers if having issues would be replaced under warranty, similar to this guys fuel pump issue. | ||

I'm told the bike is in detail. Now to schedule the delivery. I took a day off work last week to pick up the bike and when that fell through, I told them they were going to have to deliver it. We'll see what happens tomorrow. | ||

It's been 2 weeks at the dealer. I hope it's all sorted out except for adjusting the suspension and putting my fender eliminator on!!  | ||

Bike is in my gargage. They delivered it last night. So far, I have 1/10th of a mile on it and it was wonderful!! I'm off to ride. I'll talk to you guys later!! |
