The kickstand on my 09 cr seems oddly out of place. Maybe it's the size or the silver color, but either way i'd like to change it to something less gaudy if that's possible. Any ideas? XB kickstand maybe? |

I believe the mount is different, why not just paint it, if it bothers you that much? |

This is a first. Gaudy kickstand? I always thought it was kickstand art, way prettier than the XB stands. |

5 minutes and a rattle can if it really bugs you that much. |

It looks like such a lightweight piece, I would just paint it. It would probably blend in nicely. Or you could powder coat it for more durability |

I wish it was on my firebolt. I think the 1125 kick stand looks better. |

I will have mine powder coated Flat black as well. Don't really care for the silver myself. |

It sticks out like a sore thumb! The frames black, the engines black, bam! silver kickstand. I might look into the powder coating. I don't think paint is going to hold up well. |

Yeah, I've got to agree that it looks great to my eye. It matches the silver shift lever, brake lever, passenger pegs, rider pegs, and exhaust tips. Going further, the fork legs, brake discs, and rear pulley bolts are all unpainted metal, too. I'd worry about paint or powdercoat scraping/flaking off starting at the foot. How about anodizing it black (or red or some other color that appeals to you)? |

It would take alot for powder coating to flake or come off |

Dip it in that rubber goop that you use for tool handles ... |

@Cafefun "It would take alot for powder coating to flake or come off" That wasn't my experience with a powder-coated kickstand on a Honda. It was steel, but the powder coating scraped through on the bottom of the foot in no time at all, rust formed, and the powder coat came off in sheets. I realize that aluminum corrodes differently than steel, but still... I found a piece called "Powder Coating for Motorcycles" which said: "Powder is a plastic, but so is ordinary paint. If done properly powder, is a little more chip resistant than typical auto re-paint paint, but it definitely can chip." It also warns about the need for low-temperature powder coating for aluminum parts that are structural lest they become brittle at the higher temperatures of typical powder coats. All in all, a great read: http://my.execpc.com/~davewrit/Powder.html |

Can some one tell me if the side stand..as it is known in Australia...is the type that flicks up should you forget to flick it up before riding off. It does seem to flick up when I have tried it while walking with the bike. Have not tried it while riding it though. There is no electrical cut out. I had the experience of going through a fence once when I forgot to flick it up on a GSX1100...I would not mess with this life saving device. |
