Someone asked me to post some pictures of the Wolfman Mini-Beta Bag. It's is a combination of saddlebags and duffle bag and holds approximately 45 liters (12 gal.) one main large compartment and two side pockets. It attaches to the tail section with three straps and has six compression straps that allow you to get a snug fit when the bag is not completely full. I switched to this from the cortech saddle / tail pack as this is one bag that goes on and off very quick. The downside, no passenger, wait, that's a good thing! Only complain is that the underside is not cushioned so I would imagine it will scratch the tail section of a firebolt/1125cr over time unless you have some clear protectors.

The entire contents of this storage bin fits in the bag.

Just wish it was from GA, TN, SC, or NC instead of Flatlandia. ;-(=)

Fierrose,

I'll be getting tags for my red 1125CR after I pick it up in Ocala tomorrow and bring it home to Delray Beach. Looks like I can rule out an 1125CR plate! I'll think up something else! Nice plates.
What did that Wolfman bag cost?

This might sound weird, but when I put my bag on the back of my R, I take the tail section off and throw it in the bag. Don't have to worry about it scratching, and it gives a flat surface for the bag to rest on.

No, it sounds brilliant, not weird! I hate leaving part of my bike at home (yeah, I know that sounds weird) and that's a great idea.

Greenflash,

I lucked out and got it second hand from the owner of Tellico Outfitters in Tellico Plains, TN for $100.00 including a custom made rain cover when he converted over to hard luggage for his BMW.

Retail is $149.00 for the Mini and $159.00 for the Beta. I can fit about 3 days worth of clothes, the typical tools, and a 14 inch laptop in the bag. As you can see from the pics it's not wider than the bars and the compression straps keep everything on tight so nothing shifts around in the corners.

BTW...I'm headed to Deals Gap on Saturday from South Florida and going right through Ocala, there's room on the trailer for one more bike. Another Racing Red 1125CR would look real sweet. ;-(=)

Rambuell,

By tail section you mean the passenger seat cowl, right? I leave that at home unless I'm just running around town.

Where this bag may over time scratch the bike would be the rear tail section where the bag overhangs the passenger seat unless you put some clear stick on paint protectors.

yes, the rear section that contains the passenger seat. If I am doing a road trip, I take it with me. If I am using my bike for the work commute, I leave it at home. My duffel fits on the removed section and doesn't extend over the rear cowl. I understand what you are saying, it just works for me .

Fierrose,

I'll be going up to the Ocala dealer on Sat. too. Don't you be nabbing my CR if you reach Ocala before me! I'm trailering my 2000 S3T up Friday, to store in St Pete to clear garage space at home in Delray Beach. I'll keep a lookout for another red CR around here.

Have a great time at the Dragon. I rode my Ducati ST4 to the Indy MotoGP, and had a great 2 days of riding the Foothills Parkway, the Gap and Rt. 28 to Fontana Dam. Fun times, (although the other 3000 miles roundtrip to and from Indy were just a freeway slog).

Sounds like a good sport-touring solution with that bag. I'm still looking at all the options, including the $230 Buell soft bags (they look small to me, not sure if they leave an unsightly bracket, etc). Maybe I need to just pack light. I once did a 4-day tour on a Duc 900ss with just a fanny pack. Worked fine as long as people stood downwind of me.

Rick,

You don't have to go all the way to St Pete to store your S3T, there is plenty of room in my garage in Coral Springs. ;-(=)

As much as I'd like to buy another 1125CR at half of what I paid for mine back in May my wife would blow a head gaskit if I had two identical bikes in the garage.

As it was she made me give up my XB12STT so I could get the 1125CR and I almost traded it in. Now of course there is more reason to get a XB12S as there will be no more.

I don't think there is a bracket on the Buell bags, those are more like the Cortech which have some regidness built into them to keep them in shape when not full.

I have the larger Cortech Tri-Bag system that I used on my XB12STT and VFR which is about 70 liters total (20 per saddle and 30 in the duffle ). I'll use that if I leave home on the bike but if I'm towing out of Florida and unloading in the foot hills I can get by the the 45 liters I get with the Mini-Beta bag as long as I can hit a loundry facility every 3-4 days.

I may eventually sell the Cortech and buy the larger Beta bag for longer trips as I didn't buy the CR for two up riding. Let me know if you want to borrow the min-beta bag sometime to test it out, with a deposit of course. ;-(=)
