I just called my local MURDERSHIP. and they want to charge me 276.00 USD to update my salvage titled '08 1125r the latest flash. That is insane. he said the flash was 176.00 and then labor. is the rest. WTF. What is that an hour worth of labor to do the damn flash. WOW harley must really be needing some money. If you can hook a brother up, maybe i can send you the PCM and we can work something out. |

That is a free update. Call Buell Customer Service if it still exists. If not, call your Congressman. |

how easy is it to pull the ECM? Could a buddy w/ a "warrantied" 25R swap yours in and get if flashed on his bike for you? Then just swap back. Lame i know, but ...? |

If the bike is under warranty the reflash is free. The dealership does not get billed to perform that service. |

SOmeone here accidentally 131 flash, which doesn't work with the O S B tuning utility (correct me if I am wrong, and I hope I am.) They also said they were going back to the dealership to get them to re install the old flash, 12Z. How did that turn out? I think it was Badlionsfan or Carbonbigfoot. Reason is due to some mis communication, my 09 is coming with the 131 flash and I might have to do the same thing. Dammit. |

The VIN is burned into the ECM memory so that swap would not work. The Digital Tech is smarter than that. |

The VIN is burned into the ECM memory so that swap would not work. The Digital Tech is smarter than that. I am not sure I understand. Digitech will recognize the VIN and only give an option for the current flash? So you can't go backwards? |

I believe that is correct; no backwards-flash capabilities. Updates only. |

What he is saying is the VIN in the ECM is not the same as on the Frame. and then.......They stick it in your Arse for 276.00 USD |

A possible option would be to have other work performed (e.g. 12.4k service) and ask them to check the ECM version at that time. Barring that, shop around other dealers relatively close to you and do some price comparisons. |

Lovedabueller- I am in the same boat as you are (salvage bike) and was quoted a massive charge to get any new flashes. What flash do you currently have in it now? |

they flashed my salvage bike under warranty under warranty at BR HD. 2 years from the original sale date should be the warranty. they also did the 5th gear recall at no charge. all last year on the 08. try a different dealer. and don't say anything a bout a salvage title. hell, mine didn't even have a license plate. good luck, tim |
