This is disgraceful, I am sorry for Erik and all the factory employees, I wish I hadn't bought a new HD to add to the 1125R and too right HD will be providing spares for several years. I am too angry to carry on with this thread |

SOMEthing is going to happen. I just can't see Buell disappearing just "poof". Just whoever takes them on needs to make sure Erik stays in creative control. R |

If an Italian, canadian, or english company buys Buell, wouldnt that make it no longer a US company? Having the bikes still be built here would be cool but what if Yamaha decided to build R1s in the states. Would they still be jap bikes? |

My reasoning is that they were born and raised in the USA and have their roots here, so no matter where they go they'll always be American...think about it Toyota Tundra's are built in the USA and the SIlverado in mexico(for the most part) does that mean we think of toyotas as american and chevy's as non-american?? I think I am going to go trade by bagger in for the 1125 CR I have always wanted. I've usually been a fairly staunch supporter of the factory, but this really pisses me off. |

I just got the news an hour ago. In my opinion; Mr. Buell is a Man that many men should aspire to and in more ways than can ever be explained or understood herein... My highest regards, mm |

This just sealed the deal for me never buying a hardley. The funny think is that I was recently looking at them in new light. Not the light is turned off......for good. Can I get an Amen? |

Just got a call from the Harley dealer telling me about Harley dropping Buell and that they were dumping all buells for $3k under MSRP. I immediatly came here and saw this thread. they said that they would be honoring warranties and would keep parts for 7 years then no more. |

Well, Holy Crap! I really can't believe this. On the other hand, it really isn't that unexpected. Harley, while still profitable, is apparently dropping everything that isn't their main product line. Why they must have some of those MBAs on their staff, you know, the same ones who couldn't see the current crash coming on Wall Street. At least they are now reading their freshman year business text books. Well, where does that leave us all? First, I feel really terrible for Erik and the super people of Buell who support him and build us those truly great machines that we all love. I know he must feel like he has let US down. That is not the case. I think we should all get behind him and let him know that we are in his corner. We have all been lucky to meet a true Renaissance Man and deal with a truly leading edge company that has vision, drive, and a great grasp of the technical edge. The 2009 racing season speaks for itself. I am sure that his competitors are breathing a great sigh of relief. So where are we? I appreciate that Harley will still make parts and honor warranties. It IS the right thing to do. That said, GET A GRIP! They have not built the XR-750 in 20 plus years, but they still win races and you can still buy parts for them. Let's hope for the same with Buell. God bless Eric and all of his people! And thanks for a GREAT motorcycle! |

Figures... The Harley brand is built around heavy, slow, antique, designs and engineering; and the numbskulls that are willing to pay to be "in the club". I won't be surprised to see the V-Rod (the only other worthy bike they make, which I also own) go next. I say good riddance. The hog ridin' fools were never a good match for the Buell vision. I only hope Eric has an out clause for such an event. |

Johnny... it sucks BIG time. But I don't think that we've seen the last of the 1125's - if anything lives on from the Buell range it'll be this BRP engine platform. Polaris industries (Bombardier owned) would be a logical candidate to endorse a 'Buell like' motorcycle to compliment thier Victory range... PS. Love that HPE still... glad we could make it work after all those months! |

Jake - my bad - I had Polaris mixed up with BRP (Ski/Seadoo/CanAm) etc... Either one wouldn't be bad though! |

Gents I listened to Eric and I think he said he will still be working for H-D in the engineering department. So my thoughts are that maybe there is no more Buell brand, but so hows to say that H-D will not start making rocket bikes that Eric designed? |

Maybe they will still make the bikes but they will say Harley on them instead. Sounds weird but Erik said he will be designing high performance bikes for them, and looks forward to it. They said they are dropping the brand. They might still make performance bikes. I can't see Erik Buell totally giving up on the Brand he created almost 30yrs ago, even thou he looked defeated. I think he'll regroup and find a way. |
