Many of you noticed and asked about the luggage Tom Bumpus had on his bike at Buelltoberfest. His luggage was the new Cortech luggage. Really nice stuff. Bumpus is now a Cortech distributor. Tom was using the tail bag, saddle bags, and tank bag. The tail bag is nice and roomy, fully lined, and expandable: The tail bag also has base padding to keep scuffs to a minimum as well as integrated bungee cords and non-scuff hooks: The saddle bags are also expandable and large: The saddle bags have a nice padded suspension system that reduces scuffs. The tank bag is designed for our plastic "tanks" and uses a neck yoke: Additionally, Cortech makes a really neat back pack: It's great for work or weekend use when you need something more than a tank bag or you need to be able to take your stuff with you. The bottom pocket rolls out into a really cool helmet carrier: There's even a keeper to help prevent those "where is that dang Camelback drink tube" moments: We have several in stock and can get any of the Cortech luggage that they make. Tank Bag $69 Saddle Bags $129 Tail Bag $79 Backpack $69 We are offering free shipping on all our Cortech luggage!!! PM me or give me a call if you'd like us to ship you a set! Jeremy 615-708-8835 |

the sport saddle bags from cortech do not mount as nicely as they seem
but they do work great! i use them during the week when i go to school and take them with me to class. they are easy to install and remove, but they sit a little awkward because of the short tail on the buell's.
i put the straps under my tail/seat
because of my fender removal and pass. pegs removal they sat a little forward, not much different with the fender and pass. pegs though.
i got worried as they "slouched" down a little close to the tire, so i added this strap to pull them together.
this is where the attached at the rear on the reflectors, good thing i kept those on when i did my fender eliminator. |

That's weird, the attachement on ours is nothing like yours. The attachment straps on the ones we sell are wide and adjustable. Your strap looks like an afterthought. What year are yours? Ours are the latest version. Maybe yours are the last version. See what I mean:

I have the entire Cortec setup (sans backpack )and used it a lot in the past 20 months. Versatile, hold a surprising amount of stuff. And, importantly, has NEVER scratched the bodywork. Had I to do it over again I would have done it again. |

Prophet_136, Your bags appear to be mounted backwards as compared to Tom's. Maybe thats why don't seem to fit that well. Or, is it just me? (Message edited by barker on October 09, 2009) |

Any word on the weather resistance? Does it include a rain cover? Those look purdy, but I just blew 4 big notes on a the set of 3 Buell bags. |

Likewise, I have the whole setup. The blue bags look great on the arctic white and blue bike. I have the same bike, but have black bags b/c I use them on several bikes (still looks good). Never had a scratch. I give these bags a 10 out of 10 after about 10k miles worth of use. Now, I also have the backpack. Sorry, I can't be as generous with my rating. At best, I would give this a 5 out of 10. It is certainly functional, but has too many straps that just blow all around in the wind...just annoying. Aside from the handy helmet carrier, it doesn't quite feel like it was designed with the motorcyclist in mind. |

my straps are the same, i have the latest ver. as well. i mounted them both directions to see which way fit better. i dont have a picture of it mounted the way you have it in the pictures, but i put the larger strap under my seat and rear seat/cowl as much as possible. i was very paranoid that the would fall off my bike. as for fitment, its good, just a little forward than what i would like. its my fault though because i made my fender eliminator as small and short as possible so the stock turn signals now sit much farther back and closer to the tail. so in order to keep the bags from crushing them i had to mount forward some. i love the versatility of the bags. i took them to biker rally/weekend and fit everything i needed in them. i would highly recommend these to anyone. they come with rain cover as well. judging by the looks of things i may get to test them sooner than later. |

I have the Nelson-Rigg saddlebags and, although they've served me well, yours certainly seem more roomy; mine do not have the expandable feature. I think I paid $90 or $100 for them. The biggest frustration for me is that the narrow side is a little too small to accommodate a standard-size notebook (the kind that holds 8.5x11 paper). Will the Cortech product hold books etc. of that size? |

I will check tomorrow. I'll see if a ream of paper will fit. If so, Bob's your uncle. |

It's nice to see that you actually have Buell shirts for sale too. If only there was such a dealer in my area... |

I have the saddle bags already. Love them. I combined them with the Ventura luggage system for the ultimate tour setup. Though, that tail bag would make something nice for a weekend trip. |

Give me a shout! We aim to please. And yes, you can run ANY of the bags independently of the others. That's what's great about the system. You can use the capacity you need for the trip you are taking and leave the rest at home. Many use the tail bag the most. |

Right before Homecoming, last year, I bought a set of Oxford "First Time" panniers. They were cheap and held my gear/were easy to take off. http://www.oxford-shop.co.uk/item3129.htm

I have owned the Cortech tail bag. I think it is crap. I know that isn't a common opinion around here, but the zippers are horribly undersized. They are too small and fine and do not work smoothly around the tight curves built into the bag. The expander zipper snapped on one side and they main zipper is constantly separating. I even had it open when riding. I know others have experienced this also. The fabric also fades quite badly. What was black last summer is now a nasty pruplish gray. The general shape of the bag severely limits what fits since it slopes down so much in the rear. Sure, it "expands", but it expands horizontally in both directions. Now you have a 24" wide space accessible only through the narrow top opening. LAME! As you can see, not happy. Plenty are so YMMV, just another side to consider. ac |

Anthony, I know what you are saying on the zippers. Fine tooth zippers are used in order to reduce water intrusion, but the trade off is that these zippers can wear out faster with regular use. I highly recommend using this for any zippered bags: McNett Ziptech Lubricants Sorry you haven't been happy with the bags. I do know that they redesigned them recently to be more fade resistant. I don't know if this was before or after your experience. |

I realized they used the fine zippers for water...but they also included a rain cover. I would have MUCH preferred better zippers since I had a rain cover to deal with water. Instead, I choose luggage with good zippers AND lifetime warranties compared to Cortech's 2 years. ac |

I've used lip balm to lubricate zippers on luggage, jackets and pants for years. Works wonders. |

For a tail bag I use an Elite Zip Sak from Luggage Locker. Anything else will be Nelson Rigg brand. ac |

I've got the whole bag set as well. I use the tank bag and tail bag most of the time and reserve the saddle bags for longer multi-day trips. They are a great set of bags. I rode through a heavy downpour in New York last year with the rain guards on and everything in the bags got soaked. I've decided that nothing will keep everything dry unless you use a trash bag or a large zip-loc bag. |

That is odd. I rode around with the rain guards and did not experience any moisture. ac |

How do these bags work if you have a fender eliminator (Jardine) installed? |
