While many here have had no problems with their 1125, mine has been one problem after another. You name it, I gotten a new part for it. From day one my bike had a miss, not a surge, a miss. Several dyno runs confirmed this much to my frustration. What is more frustrating is the bike's been in the shops for month and no one from a dealership has addressed it, I had to bring the each problem up. I dropped the bike off two and a half weeks ago and to make a long story short met an outstanding mechanic at Cowboy HD in Austin, TX. He gets it and wants to make the bike correct and fully understands my frustration and is surprised I've not given up on it yet, me too actually. To make another long story short they warrentied the throttle body assembly to '10s, updated the FIs to '10 vintage, intake runners and of course the correct flash to make it all work on and '08. Well they called on Friday...when "Cowboy HD" popped up on my cell I was fired up...I'm thinking my bike it ready to go! Well...the service taker-inner dude tells me that they accidently broke a fitting on the accerator pump...WTF???? It's FI you moron, there is not accerator pump! "Huh??? Well the part will be in on Tuesday." Great... Oh well, the bike's been in the shop for months, what's a few more days? Right? |

It's seems like they are finally taking care of the "issues". Congrats on your patience and perserverence. I'll just bet the "fitting" he is talking about is the fuel rail quick disconnect. A few 1125 riders have cracked/ broke their's during some maint. work. So by mid week, you should be back on the road. |

Carbon - I just threw up a bit, Jack and Cheese Nips, thanks brother!!! They burn in the nose! I hope it is midweek. I have a feeling that the flash and a few tweeks may take longer than we thing. We'll see. I am really stoked about getting the latest and greatest parts. Then I need a FULL exhaust system and we'll finally get this bitch dyno tuned correctly! Anyone know of a full system for sale? |

Am I the only one that sees an issue expecting a 2008 1125 with '08-specific O2 sensors, '08-specific O2 sensor location and '08-specific fuel injectors to work well with 2010 model throttle bodies and flash??? |

well, we will see. I would hope that the guys at the shop are working under BMC's direction. R ps. sorry about the cheese nips. If you went with single malt, the burn is much better..... AAAAAAaaaaaahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!! R (Message edited by carbonbigfoot on September 28, 2009) |

The 02 sensors are not a problem, the injectors and fuel/spark map is the problem with the 2008. If you lock the AFVs, new injectors and a good tune will get you almost perfect |

Trust me they are working with BMC as BMC has the keys to the warranty kingdom. As for the O2 sensors they really don't matter as they'll be locked out anyway. XR - it's getting the new FIs, the '08s are getting trashed so the whole package will work fine. (Message edited by hellgate on September 28, 2009) |

Update. Well it was a broken fuel rail. Eric installs it and the bike refuses to fire. Long story short, one of the new FIs is bad. Put one old FI in, bike fires. Updated the flash to 05Z. Still runs like crap, the prior flash was 03Z. Soooo....here's a question is the new 141 the correct flash for an '08 with an '09/'10 fuel delivery system? I assume it is. Thoughts? Eric wasn't aware of the newest flash but he's going to check it out on Buell Web tonight. He commented about how us 1125 owners are so far ahead of his other customers on know what is the latest and greatest for our bikes. Tomorrow is day 20 can I claim "lemon law"??? J/K, relax! But I did find a totally cool FZ1 with a custom retro "Roberts" racing paint job, yellow and back. Only $5,000. I may need to buy it in order to have something to ride... Bro make sure you document everything Quote ; Oh well, the bike's been in the shop for months, what's a few more days? Right? If that statement were true you should be able to make your payment when you feel like it . Don't settle bro it's your bike and you should be on there ass about it . Good luck ... |

a) it sounds like your dealer is really trying to make things right. Lemon law will only sour the deal (sorry, couldn't resist the pun). b) your bank won't care if the bike is in the shop - stop making payments and you're the only one who will lose. I don't think you're considering either of things, but I thought they were worth mentioning. |

Its paid in full so no worries there. It's just frustrating as hell. Basically I've lost an entire season of riding this year. I check the bike in and out of the shop to ride it on track days. Once the day is done I drop the bike back off. It’s gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. I'm supposed to host a ride the weekend after next but no bike! The shop has been great but there is only so much they can do. I've got it all documented. We're going to experiment with the different flashes this weekend and see if we get lucky. If it doesn't work I'll write BCS and see what they propose. The most frustrating thing is I was invited to try out to instruct at a local track day school, no bike for that and I'll miss my oppoturnity. Oh well... And lemon law is pretty much out. I live in TX and had the bike shipped in from FL. For TX lemon I have to have bought it in TX. From what I can tell FL doesn't cover MCs under their LL. I need to look into this further but I'll contact BCS first. I have a feeling it won't go there. The good thing is I work with 30 State of TX attorneys so I can get a good opinion on this pretty quick. |

Next update...Went down to Cowboy HD today and spent a couple hours with the tech working on solutions. Short of the long, we successfully used the latest FIs with the '09 141 flash (there is a completely different 141 for '10) on an '08. It was raining so I couldn't ride it too much but the low end throttle is much much better. The huge miss appears to be 99.99% gone. I'll need more miles and a warmer day to fully know. Of course once I brought the bike back from the ride the Buell tech machine wouldn't talk to the bike and Eric had other things to do and I was out of time. But later this week he is going to clear out any codes, and set everything back to standard values (AFV, MAP, BAR, etc. etc.) I am very pleased with the progress we are making and hopefully we'll get the bike running as it should. Stay tuned... |

Picked the bike up tonight and put about 30 miles on it. Seems to run very well, that is the first time I've ever said that! It's not perfect but I think for stock parts and flashes its a ninety percent solution. The miss is all but gone, the throttle is very even and the bike can actually be ridden at slow speeds and low rpms with ease. The speedo seems to be fine, no problems at all. So I think I can finally get to dyno tuning this thing now. Hats off to Eric at Cowboy HD, he stuck with it, wouldn't take no from the factory and listened to me. So in early November we'll work on the Power Commander project and see what we can do. Just need the yet to be released 141 performance flash now, that and a full exhaust. Anyone wanna sell one??? Hellgate - Boy...I do feel for you. And I'm complaining of a bad surge (now fixed), rear indicators out (now aftermarket)...and now I have a high-tech bungy cord and piece of string holding the kick stand up...! Wonderful piece of equipment Wish you the best in getting yours running right. Mike |

Bungee and hanger, nice. You know at Home Depot you can buy a spring for a .79 cents? I think I'm over the hump and I really want to get back on the road and track to make up for lost time. For 3/8's of my ownership it's been in the shop but I think I can dial it in further. Now I can justify doing a few mods and tweeks. Until now I haven't gone a thing except for American Sport Bike seat pen thingies. I've got tons of ideas in mind; full custom exhaust, Power Commander, Brembo Master and Clutch cylinders, new front brake pads, Rizoma bar weights and bar end mirrors, Woodcraft Rearsets (coming soon - got an email on that one), White wheels, paint frame black, strip swing arm and clear coat, full fairing, buell race shock and fork kit, etc, etc. You get the idea. But the key is dialing in the motor first, otherwise it is all useless bling. |
