Just put on the FMF pipe and went on a test ride. That thing is f#$kin loud! Inner airbox removed and noided or is it denoided........... anyway, longer than normal warm up just to check for leaks and such. Easy ride on some back roads with multiple throttle inputs to, well just listening to it really. Bike is running fine. Head back home and notice the CEL is on. Pull over and key off and key on and continue home. 2 miles down the road and the CEL comes back on. Diag mode with, ahh hell dont remember the exact code, but AF value code. Check the current data and my fuel trim went from 100 front and 99 rear to 121 front and 99 rear. No leaks found. Disconnected the battery and doing a capacitive discharge to reset everything. Gonna hook everything back up in a bit and go for another ride. Might throw the DB killer in to see if it makes any difference. Ill let ya know this evening. |

Took everything apart checked it and put it back together. 60 + miles and everything seems fine. Values are coming back down to earth. Must of had a very small leak in there somewhere. DB's seem to be lower too. Very nice tone when a load is applied. Bike feels even smother and seems to pull harder and spin up faster. Bike should be going on a dyno in 2 weeks. Will post up some charts when it comes off. |

I too received and installed my FMF Apex today. I installed the db killer with the "cone" inward towards the muffler, which is the less restrictive way to install the cone (according to the directions. It sounds great, but I'm convinced that the power is down from the stock exhaust. I may try removing the db killer tomorrow. I've also got some surging above 4k that wasn't present prior to the install. The AFV values are reasonable at 105F, 100 with about 15 miles on the pipe. I suspect it's running lean with the new pipe. I'll be installing a Protune 3 in the next couple of days as well. On another note, it was a real PIA to install the header pipe. I've got an early 2008, so I'm wondering if the header pipes are slightly different than the 2009's. It looks like the stock rear header pipe is about 1/8 of an inch longer than the stock front header pipe. The problem is that the FMF header pipe has equal length header pipes at the "Y". The FMF header pipe slips fully onto the rear pipe, but it's about 1/8 of an inch too short on the front header pipe once the rear is fully seated. This creates a problem with the front mounting bolt hole for the FMF header pipe. It needs to be slightly enlarged and it requires significant upward pressure on the header pipe to install the bolt. |

If you don't have before charts from the same dyno, the after chart won't be of much value. |

^ True but we have a pretty good idea of a base line of these bikes. Was just trying to throw out some more pictures, charts, and graphs for all those who really enjoy them. But you cant please everyone. And for some more info if anyone cares, 150 miles and the fueling has calmed down. Bike is even smoother. Decel popping has decreased and the bike is much quieter. Now I'm not so optimistic about buying this pipe... Does anyone have a graph with the dB killer? |

Now that I have some miles on it, the volume has come down ALOT! I got home from work yesterday and my wife came outside and said that she didnt think that is was me at the house. She said the bike was much quieter now. The sound is real nice. Lumpy at idle. It sounds pretty good. |
