I got off much better than first thought upon further inspection. NO damage to clutch cover, a few tiny scratches on bottom, nothing structural.....  ...the puck did it's job!   Very few fine scratches on swing arm, woulda been fine if I had got the sliders I always say I need to get but never remember.  Right passenger peg scratched up, but still strait and functional   Tail section plastic will get replaced this winter, no structural damage  Pod did it's job, took the blow, no internal damage   in this pic you can also see the brake lever and throttle. both need replaced for cosmetics, but 100% functional  A few scratches to edge of fairing, probably just leave it as is  Where the mirror busted  All in all, for a 45 mph or so low side, got off pretty lucky. | ||

I bought mine salvage so I had a lot of the same damage issues as you have right now. You can get 'diamond blue' color matched paint directly from Buell to touch up your swingarm and it is possible to (with a good bodywork shop) to sand, prime and respray the color injected ABS pieces. 1125's seem to crash well the only thing you need to really worry about is the "engine case" buell attaches the rear sets to the case, and if your case tabs brake your looking at over $1100 just for a new engine case! + the time swapping cases! I know this from a highside on my 1125.... glad your okay! | ||

Nope, got 2 stickers in paper versions of book of Buell I have. Does suck tho that those stickers I got from Taylor Knapps' team, I think from his mom specifically. | ||

I may try that on the tail and front fairing, pod cover is junk and cheap enough to replace. Does anyone know the proper procedure/ stuff needed to try to buff?? | ||

Probably the single most expensive piece is the clutch cover puck: $165. Glad you're OK. | ||

The puck is nice --- a big ass piece of billet. But I was outraged when I discovered that they replaced a $16 part with a $165 one --- and just 2 weeks after I dropped my bike in a parking lot. But looking at the amount of damage yours sustained while apparently fully protecting the clutch cover, I'm inclined to think it's a nice touch. As it was, I decided to live with the looks (mine was only slightly marred), but when I took it in for the next service, they replaced it gratis! I think it was probably a comp in exchange for the 4 times my old clutch weep required service. What would the price on the clutch cover have been? Ben - I buffed out my pod after my lowside to "good enough to run" and it wasn't much less damage than yours. I got finished just about the time the new pod arrived. If money's tight and you have an abundance of elbow grease, you should be able to resurface your body parts(the bike's parts..). Zack | ||

Fixin that pod will be tough. It slid enough that the plastic melted and slid back, causing a "scale" effect. I'll get better pics of what I mean tomorrow. I just took a hand full Tylenol pm and will be out cold in a matter of minutes. | ||

Put some stickers on the blemished parts and forget about it.... If anyone asks.... you can say... "I made it look mean!" say it with a pirate accent and you should be good to go! | ||

So yeah, the Rev B puck IS worth it for a significant crash at speed. In my own case --- literally dropping the bike as I came to a standstill  --- the smaller, cheaper Rev A puck would have done fine. But in this case it almost certainly would have cost him the clutch cover. Fresno, I haven't had the pleasure of taking a Rev B puck off, but the Rev A came off with a gentle tug on a pry point and went back on with a couple careful mallet taps. | ||

Grandstand Designs has a billet puck for the A version that works on both sides and is cheaper to boot. seems like it was around 60 a set. i bought 2 sets and probably need to buy a spare set. the plastic pucks don't hold up to a slide. tim | ||

When I lowsided, I was going between 15-20 mph. It cost me a pod and a clutch cover, RevB by that time. The plastic RevA puck lasted a foot or two of the 20 feet I slid. If you still have a RevA cover, get the puck Tim is talking about and some sliders from DHM. Like Marco says, the RevB pries off like the RevA, just a little more effort. Same mechanism, held on by an o-ring. I made a wood "no-mar" wedge to pop mine off. Z | ||

I have an 08 parts book, with RevA numbers. All else I have is the RevB cover kit, with the new puck, R1029A.1AM. Maybe I have the bag the puck came in, out in the garage. Went digging at HDnet to no avail, old p/n R1021.1AM still shows current, although the cover went from R0029.1AM to R1029.1AM. Z | ||
