I've only seen a thread on swapping a R to a CR |

i could be mistaken - but he swapped with somebody - so there should be an "R into a CR" and a "CR into a R" |

Me and another gentleman did the swap. If youre gonna do a true conversion, everything but the forks, wheel and brakes need to be swapped and I do mean everything right down to the plastic at the neck that supports the wiring harness. I can walk someone through it step by step if needed. I also started a thread a few months back. |

I wouldn't mind putting an R fairing on my CR, and leave everything else the same, but I really like the looks of the CR. It's an evil looking beast. |

I agree. I wanted a CR but couldnt pass on the deals on the 2008's. Got lucky and found someone to swap with me. Love it. |

It was you and dobieg2002, wasn't it? I remember that thread. Good stuff! Just don't forget to swap the gas caps too! |

For those who have done the conversion...I have a CR but have thought about rigging something up so I could reasonably quickly "add" R fairing or swap out the CR w/ R...just to get a change of pace and some more wind protection. I have no idea if this is even feasible. Maybe some sort of clamp setup to attach the R fairing and have a spliced in connector with a switch for headlights? |

The problem is in the mounting of the front fairing (from what I understand). I could be wrong, though. |

going from a cr to an r is alot less work. You'll need the fairing support bracket, lights and fairing. The only thing im not sure about is how the clearance would work with speedo. On the CR it is mounted to the handle bars, on the R it is fixed to the fairing support. It can work, just might have to make some provisions like an extra set of handle bar top clamps when running the R front end. And Doerman, youre right it was me and Dobie and the gas cost us both a week of riding. Be forewarned tough, there is a $10 plastic piece at the neck of the frame that supports the wiring harness, it has to be swapped each time. The one for the CR routes straight up the neck to keep the harness from binding up steering because of the CR headlight. The on for the R goes straight out at the neck to go under the fairing support. Small detail but huge effect I promise. |

What about headlight connections? R has 4 lights, CR has 2. Aren't you short a couple connections? |
