I know of one 09R with a failed stator as well...FWIW.
Covered under warranty tho!

What happens when your stator goes and your warranty is up??Then the 680.00 part will be referred to as a golden egg charging your bike.I believe that the 09 stator will fry more often over a 08.More watts more heat more problems.

Where is the real heat produced? It's produced in the VR when the extra watts are not used. If you use the watts then you don't have the heat so you don't have more problems. Yeah some heat is produced in the stator but not nearly as much as when the VR has to dump the extra power. Besides, the stator is at least oil "cooled" ;+}.
I can use the watts on my 1125rt. |

And I thought I was the only one with stator problems. Wow. Seeing how much a replacement costs, it makes me that much happier that it happened under warranty.
Now the many weeks it took for the first tech to misdiagnose the problem, not so happy. But all's well that ends well and I am truckin' on down the road . . . |

My ST1300 has 750 watts and that's about right.
As much time as I spend on the road, it's nice to have extra lighting, navigation and entertainment.

I have an early build 08, ZERO issues with stator.
Many whine, bitch and/or complain because they can't run GoldWing crap on a sportbike=upgraded/elec/higher output of a new design.
Duh. BMC/HD/ROTAX will solve your issues.
Stop bitching about it here and politely deal with your dealer and CS.
That will work. If not...try PM's before posting unknowns. |

So far in 25,000+ miles in 16 months I have no complaints either. I am running a few extra electrical accys w/o any issues.
Just ride it and have FUN! Next question?? |

It's that sometimes people forget that applies to everyone.
Z, we will make it through this and just be glad that we know who is right ;+}.
So MM, why don't you start a thread and let us all see what you have been doing with your spare time away from BWB. You sounded like you really had some great plans last winter, did they all work?

I will share all when I make up with the administration here and pay to advertise.
Unfortunetly/Fortunetly, we've got a lot more going on then just the 11 effort now.
To answer your question tho, we've learned a lot and redesigned a lot...yes. 
To the rest of you that take offense to some or all of my posts...read all the archives of the 1125.
While it's been a great ride sharing and learning and communicating...whiners and squids take a lot of steam out of the cause.
I have never looked down on personalizing/mods...completely the opposite...geez.
