...and it's WAY too loud. I'll need to figure out a baffle setup (Endoman33 is sharing his with me). If I can't quiet this thing down I'll need to sell it. I'm a total gearhead and this this isn't even enjoyable for me to listen to, I can't imagine how it sounds to everyone else. That aside, the worksmanship is AMAZING. Hard to tell in some places that this thing is hand made. Very complete with all the clamps and hardware and everything, too. I just wish they sold a quiet insert or something for it to tame it a bit. If I had heard one in person before I decided to get it, I probably would not have gotten it. But now I'll just play around with baffle setups. |

It is a bit on the loud side, but it seems to me that when you are either right next to another vehicle or in a confined space, it'w really friggin loud, but on the road it's not as much of an issue... First time I fired mine, one of my inner voices said "Oh, no. That's not going to be O.K.....", but the rest of the voices shouted him down. Now he just giggles with the rest of them. Just preference, I guess! R |

Xl1200: I guess riding together might not be a great idea, with your pipe and my D&D it would be like moths to a light with some L.E.O.'s LoL |

I'm crossing my fingers on this baffle setup. I needed something louder than stock, but this is just a bit overkill. A gave it a good run on my way to work and the thing sounded like a damned race bike! |

Mark, check out the thread under Parts, Suppliers, etc for Kevins forum (Drummer mufflers)/KD fab and look at "silencer for Drummer" about the 6th thread down to see what Kevin did for Petebueller with what Pete had made. Maybe you could hook up with him or do something similar. Bob PS Mark, read Petebuellers whole thread for comments and some pictures. (Message edited by bob_thompson on August 03, 2009) |

Thanks for the tip. I remember seeing that, but couldn't find them on his website. I just sent Kevin an e-mail, I hope they work on the 1125 model as well. They look pretty versatile. |

My Drummer is also LOUD. Did I mention it is LOUD? Louder than a machine that makes loud things. It is hilariously, ridiculously loud. Forget what you might know about the Drummers on XBs - the 1125 model is several orders of magnitude louder. When I hit the starter, it makes me laugh at the mortar attack I have just unleashed. With earplugs, it is perfectly acceptable and running right next to eggheads in a Toyota Prius on the freeway will never, ever stop being fun. However, I must admit that I wish it was just a little quieter. The noise level on my old XB Drummer was literally perfect at all engine speeds. Perfect tone/loudness at idle, mid-range, and full revs. This one starts raucous and loud and only gets worse (better?) from there. |

KEvin got back to me and the little insert doesn't fit. I'll keep looking for a baffle setup for this thing to tone it down - I'm crossing my fingers on Micah's solution... |

That's how I got my Drummer. Ray, in Grand Junction, CO got one and it was too loud for him. It's just right for me. I can't stop blipping the throttle just to hear it. Gotta get a couple of t-shirts from Kevin. I love the sound when I drag the engine down to 1000-1100 rpm with it in gear. That's where I want my idle. It out-ducs the sound of a Duc. Zack |

I'll buy a used Drummer for the 1125 from anyone who doesn't like theirs, full retail price plus s&h to Oz. Because Kevin says I'm very far down the waiting list otherwise. Anyone seriously interested can PM me. Then my wife will kill me, because I promised I'd stop spending money upgrading my 1125. Which is probably fair, because the A$100 I've spent adding a third 44 mm pipe to my stock muffler has dynoed at 136hp / 81fp already, with a nice sound (94 dB[a], which is within the Australian standard for road bikes). How do those three numbers (power, torque, decibels) compare with the Drummer? (Message edited by redscuell on August 04, 2009) |

My own mod to the stock muffler.
You may have to look carefully to notice the muffler change. The pic was taken to illustrate the colour scheme that was inspired by BMW's 'new' HP-2 air-cooled superbike (I felt the 09's use of blue accents was too girly; which I initially made worse by adding a blue intake cover). |

I'm sooooo in! Makes harrassing Priuses even more fun! With earplugs, it is perfectly acceptable and running right next to eggheads in a Toyota Prius on the freeway will never, ever stop being fun. While I agree that Prius' are somewhat too politically correct for me, the glee you get from harassing others' is quite small minded and childish on your part. Those "eggheads" will take great glee if they ever get the chance to impair our right to ride or chose what we want to ride. The majority (cagers) can always f@ck the minority (motorcyclists) given the opportunity. Remember all ye that choose offensively loud pipes that you are putting ALL of us in jeopardy every time you ride. Pretty selfish if you ask me. At the very least, you should become an AMA member to help offset some of the damage you are inflicting everytime you harass an "egghead." |

XL1200r, let me know if you ever figure out a baffle or something, the Drummer is my current pick of pipes, but I don't want to get louder than stock if possible. |

Calling me small-minded and childish is the nicest thing anyone has said about me in a long time! Thank you, mom! (Good grief, I didn't realize that I had mistakenly posted on the Good Housekeeping forum . Sorry all!) How old are you, jjk? How about this...let's say your mom or grandma were driving down the street and some prick with loud pipes was getting his rocks off by harassing her. I assume you wouldn't like that too much. Whenever I get pissed at an old persons' driving, I think of my own mom or dad holding up traffic somewhere. You would be amazing how often I calm down and avoid shooting the dirty look as I move past. You all can defend your loud pipes til the cows come home, but noise pollution it's the single biggest offensive thing we create. It's pretty sad that some relish this aspect of riding which will ultimately be our demise...and much sadder that people seem to enjoy intentionally harassing others. They all dislike us already, why make them HATE us with a passion? Flying under the radar is okay. Or is negative attention better than no attention? Because people aren't thinking you are cool as you ride around with loud pipes--they think "who's that a$$hole with the loud pipes." |

Wow, Fresnobuell, calling me a 'prick' and an 'a$$hole' seems a little out of line, don't you think? You and I obviously have different opinions about things so we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm sorry that you seem very upset about this issue in general, but calling me names like that is beyond the pale. And by the way, if your profile is accurate, I am actually older than you! |

Settle down guys. In Fresno's defense, folks ARE very anal retentive towards noise pollution in CA, which is where he's at. Don't believe me, look at the noise rules to ride at Laguna Seca. In Jjk's defense, folks in TX aren't. |

Amen to that! Crap I live in the state right next to CA and those CA assholes make me sick on a daily basis!! Not you Fresno, your an exception I don't mind you at all and your welcome in NV any time! Now let's get on with this muffler thing since I was the first to post that I'd buy it if xl1200 gets rid if his!!! |

I didn't call you those names...please re-read. And yes, California sucks when it comes to pollution, whether it's air or noise. But really, it's more about some common decency and respect of a fellow citizens right NOT to hear YOUR bike. Yes, whether you like it or not, you are infringing on people's rights. That's why there are those pesky EPA laws we all hate so much. I am shocked you are older than me...with that kind of attitude towards others, I would have guessed you were about 20 years old (or less). |
