I need to clean out the threads in the nuts on my spare ceramic coated muffler. If anyone knows the thread size and pitch it would be greatly appreciated. On the mounting tabs, I see three lock nuts behind plates that can slide forward and back on three tabs. The fourth mounting tab at the left front does not have a nut. Am I missing something, or does this tab just have a loose nut (besides me)? TIA Neil S. |

8MM x 1.25 thread pitch and yes, there's a nut for that bolt on the left front (if you're sitting on the bike) and it goes through a bracket and also the motor. The bracket is for both the exhaust and the oil cooler. (Message edited by d_adams on July 08, 2009) |

Yes, the forth tab has a loose nut and it's a bear to get on and tightened. |

Dean and Bryan: Thanks, you guys rock. Such a wealth of knowledge, now on to finding a bolt I can use to chase the threads or maybe a tap. Later Neil S. |

Neil - that's the nut I told you I bent a box end 90 degrees so I could get at it. With the Drummer, it's easy to get to. neener-neener It was OK with the proto oil cooler, but after the journalists cried about heat, they put the big one on. Z |

Well I won't have to worry about that since I'll have it swapped out when I have the next valve check done next month. Thanks again all. I'll see if Fastenal has a starting tap or I'll make a thread chaser out of a bolt. Neil S. |
