Hi everyone,

riding to work today, I felt likei have to turn the the throtle like a 1/4 of the way before it would engage?

Feel like I could blip the gas up to a 1/4 turn before anything happened?

Anyone one else had this feeling?
Maybe I'm being sensitive??

You may have some play in your throttle cable. That may be the reason for the lag before throttle engagement.

Mine was the same way until i lubed all the cables and springs then denoided. No issues since.

Bart- did it feel like you needed a quarter turn for the engine to rev? Or for the grip to get some resistance to it? Did it feel like there was slack in the grip? Or like you were actually opening the throttle 1/4 before anything happened?

Thanks guys,
I felt as I was riding at any given speed, I could twist the throttle 1/4 turn before feeling throttle response.
I don't feel as the handgrip is slipping.

I have had a off/on issue with loseing my speed and gear indicator. And I feel it might happen (somtimes) when I let off the gas totally. Not everytime of course.

I have a 09 cluster (still did it with the 08 one) and have not denoided. I plan to when I have a open Sunday.

I suppose the cable could be loose, but I only have 2k, but I will check it.

Has anyone had this minor throttle response annoyance?
- When aggresively rolling the throttle on from 4500rpm -5500rpm the bike experiences a slight stumble/hesitation/hic-up. I have de-noided my bike and this happens nowhere near the 3k range. Its most definitely closer to 5k. Any ideas? Fixes?

I don't know where you got the 3k number, but the noid kicks in at 4850 rpm.
Read your info on the neck of the bike.

"MEETS U.S. EPA NOISE EMISSION REQUIREMENTS OF 80 dBA AT 4850 RPM BY THE FEDERAL TEST PROCEDURE"

I had this problem yesterday which i think was related to me de-noiding i did the TPS reset and worked perfect and back to normal.
To zero the TPS:

1. Set the Run/Stop switch to the Run position.
2. Turn the ignition key to the On position.
3. With the engine off, rotate the throttle grip from its closed
throttle position to the wide-open throttle position and back
to closed position three (3) times, holding the throttle grip
against eash stop (open and closed) for one (1) full second.
4. Cycle the ignition key off and back on.

Thanks guys - Zac4Mac: I have a Canadian bike - so no such sticker on my bike but that info certainly clears things up, I seem to remember earlier posts referring to the 3k range for some reason. Bueller_bjorn: Glad to hear someone else successfully diagnosed then fixed the problem via TPS reset. I'll do that. I'm relatively new to internet forum's but I really appreciate the valuable information that I find on here almost everyday. Godspeed fellas.

I did the TPS reset procedure - however I have a quick question: Is there any indication on the instrument cluster that the TPS has been reset? I didn't get any indications/codes/messages etc that anything has changed at all. Thanks!

Just check the % (should be 2 - 100) and the voltage (should be 3.7 - 4.? I believe)

hey bart, i posted a thread with the same problem a while back. i took bike in for the first service which included putting oil down the cables, never had the problem again. i would request your dealer do the same.

I have the same problem with my R but it's not all the time. Usually it happens after it's been rainy and sitting for a day or two. It's extremely inconsistent (throttle is horribly unresponsive the 40 miles to work and then spot on the 40 miles home) which makes me think it's not the cables. It's extremely maddening and dangerous! I'm de-noiding it tomorrow (could someone please post the how-to link for the non-plug version, I couldn't find it with the search function). Hopefully that will fix it.
Bartman, Did you have any luck with the de-noiding and TPS reset? I hope so.
Worst part is that every time I bring it to the dealer for service it works great. Haha. Hope your bikes runnin' well now Bartman. Thanks for any help.

Hi guys,
have not denoided yet, think I'll ride this warrenty thing out... Less hasle.
Been raining for weeks here so I have not rode but one day to work and the speedo was mostly good...

I talked the dealer into getting me a speed sensor, but I have to wait a week to get it in. :-( we'll see what that does.
Have not done the TPS reset yet, I want to take it to the dealer as is.
09 dash fogs on inside. Never did on 08...sigh...

Anyone else done a speed sensor??

I had one throttle "cut" inside of 600mi on my 09 and didn't have another until 2,100mi. But this "one" was "three" cuts in a row while attempting to pass a car!

I sure hope this needless BS doesn't get someone killed! I was in the "yellow zone" when it happened and wasn't in Real danger but very well could have been with a more strident move to pass.

I prepare to pass in a similar manner every time, usually 5000 and up.I think Buell should be de-noiding them before something really bad happens,, if it hasn't already. Stoogin' around figuring out why the rocket won't lite while you ass is hangin' in the wind Is Not a good spot to be in,, Anyone listening?,,Anyone?

Then they have to do a metric assload of redesigning stuff. The 'noid is to make it pass the EPA noise test.

Just de-noid it yourself. Buell can't do it on factory rigs and still pass.
