Hello All, I'm considering buying a new 1125CR and would like to know if anyone has toured on one yet with the accessory handlebar kit. I'm also considering the Monster 1100 and the Speedtriple. I like the 1125 and the price difference is significant but I have been unable to find one with the higher bars installed. I'm 5'11" and would like to understand what can be done to make this an all-day bike (if anything). |

I have not ridden a CR with the high bar kit. But I have sat on one with the kit and truly it makes it the perfect all day bike or touring bike. I like it so much that I was considering doing high bar kit on the 1125R cause I like the look of that bike better. You might want to consider... 1) Buell Custom touring seat - wider and better padding 2) High bar kit 3) Lower footpegs (Uly pegs) drops the pegs approximately one inch What people are comfortable touring on is an individual choice. The pegs and bar set will give you a more relaxed seating position and the Buell Custom seat is definitely a step up in "butt comfort". (Message edited by doerman on June 21, 2009) |

High_Side, I test rode the 1125CR with the high handle bars at Western Reserve Buell in Mentor, OH. I thought the combination almost exactly matched my XB12 Lighting. They also have put a high handle bar kit on the 1125R if you want the fairing and a touring seat position. I liked everything about the 1125CR. None of the issues many people have talked about on early 1125's. Having an engine with a linear torque curve that revs above 6,000 RPM's is priceless. I would like to see an 1125Scg, but I'm vertically challenged. Dave |

ive got a CR with the high bars - just rode 400 miles in 2 days with no problem at all - seat could have been a little more comfy but since im vertically challenged i cant put the firebolt seat on cause i hear it raises you about 1/2" or so - probably just going to have a gel insert made or something, i dont know yet, i just ride it - few miles away from 8K on her |

You might not need to change anything. I'm 5'11" can do 400+ miles a day on this bike. Ya, I'm wore out but not anymore than when I've done it on a cruiser. |

IMO, the high kit should be the stock kit and the cafe bars should be an option. The CR is perfect and is nearly the same position as an S/SS. I can't say enough good about it. Our dealership has both the stock and high bar options on the floor. We encourage them to ride both. So far we have sold only one CR that didn't have the high bar installed from the beginning. |

High bar kit is very comfortable. The uly pegs also helped with 1" lower leg/knee/foot relief. Have not yet purchased the touring seat, so can't give advice on that item. Regards, Sleeper_777 |

I recently put in about 1300 miles in 2 days on my CR. If you want to do big miles, your best bet would be to get a better seat and some sort of cruise control. After my trip, I added a Firebolt custom seat (big improvement) and a Throttle Rocker cruise control. The 1125 does not have the ergos of a Uly, but 600-700 miles/day should not be too bad if you plan for it. |

You'll definitely be happier with the performance of the CR and the Speeder over the Monster. I just got back from a trip to NC riding my Street Triple R along with a buddy on a Speed Triple and another on a Monster 1100S- the duc couldn't keep up with either Triumph. The owner was very unimpressed with the Monster's power- it's less powerful than an XB12S. The bar position was the least comfortable of the three also. I was perfectly happy riding 1,400 miles in five days on the STripR. An 1125CR with the handlebar kit is apples to apples to a Speed Triple- the Monster 1100 is not in the same league.

I've ridden both the Streettriple-R and the Monster 11, and I agree that while the ST is likely outright faster, I am a fan of twins and prefer the lower revving and torquey nature of the Duck. I also agree that the riding position of your bike is nearly spot-on for a guy my size, even if it does look like I am wearing a thong while riding it! So how do you know about the 1125CR with a bar kit? Did you get a chance to ride one? I am interested to hear. |

I don't have the high bar kit or the lower pegs, and looooong days are no problem for me. I'm also 5'11''. This bike is mor comfortable than my Firebolt was, and I rode that 1000 miles in two days with stock ergos. The CR will do at least that with no issues. I think the longest I've done on the CR has been an 8 or 9 hour day (miles don't mean much since it depends how fast you're going). The high bars are comfortable, but I still prefer the lower bars for the riding I do. I disagree with the Ft_ only because the high bars take away from the stated mission of the bike, but I do think a high bar 1125 should be availible from the factory. |

High bars and Uly Pegs. For me, with these mods, the ergonomics are dead on perfect. Most comfortable standard bike I have ever ridden. I ride daily, and have done hundreds of miles in a day. Come on and join the party! R |

What are the difference between the using the Uly pegs and say the pegs of the S models?? or is it that the S pegs won`t fit at all? Thanks |

The uly pegs are about double or more the area, and about an inch lower. R |

nearly spot-on for a guy my size, even if it does look like I am wearing a thong while riding it! HAAAaahhahahahah!!!! I have the same issue. Just as long as you don't wear the thong backwards.... R |

Here ya go Uly pegs=wider than "s" pegs: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/383533.html?1218125420 They are wider and a little longer than the "s" pegs. Always nice to have some more support under your boots. The drop is about the same. BTW the Uly pegs do come in black also but, they are 2x the price of the silver ones. Guess that's what you pay for being a little stickier. Neil S. |

I'm 6'2" and a few pounds over weight, but with the high bar kit, it felt great. Keep in mind that I ride a Uly that has ample leg relief. I have ridden with both the stock clubmans and the high bar kit and there is a BIG difference. I felt like I could go all day. |

Ive not ridden on the 1125R or CR but I almost bought a speed triple before I got the XB. I really wanted to like the speed triple but the distance between seat and bars seemed longer than the XB and made me put pressure on my wrists. The street triple was a much more comfortable bike IMO. Although I didnt ride either. The XB won my cash because of comfort. |

Do the high bars on the CR make the wind much worse at highway speeds? |

I'm coming now from in Rome froma Cannes in france. 500 miles in 8 hours. The seat for long rides is really painful. No way, After 200 miles I had to stop every 80 miles. A new seat, the Custom touring for the firebolt will be in my Cr in less tha one month. No problem with the back and with the clubman. |

Palmer - I think you'll be very happy with the touring seat. I can't imagine mine without that seat and the Ulysses pegs. My feet and legs would cramp before I got the pegs. Huge difference. Z |
