today i went for a ride with the girl to see her daughters game a hour away two hours total on the way home my bike was knocking hard. From the front of motor.I checked oil and level was good i think its the trans .I shut the bike off in nuetral and rolled it and still heard the knock 2 times per rear wheel revolution.I notice that the trans has been really tight then loose and on and on since i bought it.Im starting to think twice about this r .this thing always has quirks always.hell my speedo rarely works!! and i had that fixed twice |

Get that thing over to Western Reserve. They're the best Buell dealer in our parts and I'm confident they'll fix all your issues. |

Im just wondering that if this thing has serious problems that maybe harley will give me a buyback "Engine issues". Something is seriously wrong it shifts hard then soft now its knocking but no oil light? It did this stuff when I first bought it too. At about 1000k. but no knocking.I dont think its right to have a bike that breaks this often. And if somethings really bad im going to be pissed.I got in august and it spent more than a month last year in the shop with speed cluster issues and the 5 gear recall lights .well this time its my speedo quit working ,the brakes shake the bike, knock and trans,id like to get that new flash too. |

Take it to a good dealership then contact Buell customer service and inform them of the problem. |

It's listed on the "links" page and on the "for the factory" page. I'd paste it for you, but iPhone won't let me. |

#.I took it there today and told them what it was doing.I let them listen to the knock at idle. it was louder upright when i set the kickstand and on its side it went away some. I believe a shaft came loose. If so I want to see what shape the shaft is in before they tighten it up /close it up.Im not letting anyone pull one on me.Not that i believe harley/buell would do that but the techs are bad about buells.its like the only bikes they know how to work on are sportsters |

Hey, look on the bright side: the guy working on the bike has probably never done anything close to that amount of disassembly on an 1125R before, so you're really helping him learn! |

Could be that 5th gear is done. This is going to be a problem with all 08's, and some 09's. I don't know all the details, but I understand that this a an issue that's just coming to light. I've heard that is can completely seize the motor, so it will be interesting to see how this is handled. |

I thought it was my imagination but sometimes I hear a metallic tinging, scraping noise,I think it is coming from the trans area. It doesn't do it all the time though. Adoogie3, what noises if any did you hear leading up to the failure? Oh, don't feel too bad about your bike, with my front brake rotor that just warped I'm up to my 23rd documented issue since new and the bike just turned 5,000 miles. |

Beullishxx - 5th gear had a reacall, a year ago, because one or two showed problems while racing. WFO in 5th gear, something on the order of 155 mph, they galled. Not a condition your typical street rider experiences. Buell issued the recall voluntarily... And, promptly after the incidents. Hope you get your baby back soon Andrew. Z |

The only problem I have had that caused me alarm... When cruising down the interstate or open road I got to shift from 5th to 6th... and I miss it. The gear box "floats" or something and won't engage into 6th. I think I am doing it by lightly shifting, so I have made it a point to apply more pressure to up shifting. Anyone else had this problem? I am convinced it is operator error, but hey... |

Hey Geforce...at least you're actually looking for a gear that exists. I find myself looking for 7th all the time. And haven't found it yet. |

Ge, I also have experienced this issue. Same thing, apply more pressure and it doesn't happen. Not sure if anything can be done about it. |

Okay found the problem they also split one side of my case now and found the primary gear drive had 2 sheared bolts????WTF.3 total bolts hold it on.1 was still holding.Bill told he he ordered a new whole primary setup ,gaskets, and will have it together real soon.from what i saw these bikes arent that hard to tear apart.Still blows my mind my case had to be split to get to trans??WTF |

"Still blows my mind my case had to be split to get to trans??WTF" Welcome to a modern sportbike. I have been splitting the cases on sportbikes to work on the transmissions for years so this isn't new or uncommon. It isn't a sportster motor afterall. |

Will it be reliable after this |

"Will it be reliable after this" Was it reliable before this? Splitting the cases isn't going to make it less reliable. Fixing a broken part isn't going to make it less reliable. Based on that I would venture that reliability won't suffer as a result of this issue. My only concern would be how long it takes them to fix it. I had a ZX10R develop a leak from a porous casting and it took Kawasaki 4 months to get it sorted. It took 10 calls, 2 from my lawyer, and a sh*tload of complaining to the local Kawasaki rep but Kawasaki finally stepped up and did the "right" thing, replaced the engine. It's been what 4 days in your case? Seems like Buell is doing this the right way. |

there's a speedo pickup on the primary also . That's why my speedo has been screwing up even after the speedo wires and cluster have been changed. The pickup wheel has been not running true. The wheel has been wobbly the tech said that's why it's intermmittent? Beware of the intermittent speedo if all else has been replaced plus a little more clunki g noise will be apparent. Just a heads up!! |
