Does anyone know what to do with the O2 Sensors. They are about 12" further down the pipe then the stock pipes. Does anyone know if you are supposed to splice the electrical wire going to the O2 sensor and make it longer? Thanks Jim |

No idea. That should work, just make sure you have good soldered connections... Buell might make an extension... Ask your parts guy. R |

Don't know the one I saw installed didn't look spliced. Maybe fabricate new leads? |

787rr, I lengthened mine and had no problems.Soddered them then used heat shrink tubing.Checked the resistance and no change. 600 miles and still working. Scott |

Horsepower! It's a complete tuned system, not just a slip-on. Just like the one that Twin Motorcycles is developing to work with the Torque Hammer. I have to admit that the factory race pipe does look like the way to go for most power right now. Do you really think it's a muffler? |

Please, that system looks unbelievably impressive. Its a full system, and makes more power than the drummer, at less than twice the cost. Whereas the drummer, which has been posted to lose hp, costs almost three times as much as some other slip ons. The drummer is not the be-all end-all. |

Socoken, I was told by a racer from CA that the race exhaust makes ~10 more hp than the Torque Hammer. If you look at the development dyno numbers from Twin Motorcycles you can see that on their dyno a stock 1125 makes right at 125 RWHP. If you look a little closer you can see that the Torque Hammer with race ECM makes 144 RWHP. A gain of almost 20 RWHP. It also does well with the stock ECM. So the factory race pipe is making about 155 RWHP? That impresses me. I only wish I had the $ and dyno access to run the Buell race exhaust. BTW were you serious that the Drummer loses RWHP? |

drummer lose power. huh im the last to know about that. oh yah they dynoed it rate after putting it on. did they mention the a/f was propably 17+ to 1. that freakin buell exhaust is hot!! i have the drummer and man theres no lose in power. but who knows. man that buell exhaust is hot!!! oh did i say that again. |

It came in for one of our race-bikes. I've been dreaming about those headers since I saw them. Absolutely works of art. I suppose the muffler is expected to be re-built regularly. Pop rivets just like all the tuber race mufflers and race lic so they can actually sell them and not get sued/fined by the EPA for millions (see DynoJet). Screws in my WestTek muffler backed out, pop rivets never do. Oh, and my grandfather was Bozo in his local market. Hmm I have a race lic and access to a dyno, but if I had an extra $2600+ I'd be looking at that 91RS in the classifieds. |

The biggest advance of a bigger header system is the less heat and off course some HP win. The heat inside that the engine builds up, will be less, that's the biggest win. The holes for the O2 Sensors are only for use on the dyno, not too use for daily driving. I think everybody knows right now, that you will need more fuel then the O2 sensor can handle. so, you always keep them disconnected. We will start on a header system for the road, this winter, we are in a full racing season now. And I think that the complete Buell race system can make between 141 and 144 HP, with a good fuel map. |

Dris is exactly right. I've helped on the dyno with tuning Higbee's bikes and have seen exactly those numbers at sea level... but again, we're tuning the engine for air/fuel and taking the HP as it comes. YMMV. We were happy with 141-143. STILL trying to get the Torque Hammer run on a few different bikes with some dyno data (sorry it has been taking so long!!!) |

You might be able to do that with the headers that Dris is going to produce. If you look at his race bike now you can see them hooked up with a Torque Hammer, which is a slipon. |

Less heat.......? No header tube effect on that front. Only timing and to a lesser extent, additional fuel will help with overly hot headers. The larger diameter primary tubes raise the torque curve. The longer primary tubes help flatten and somewhat lengthen torque curve. The short secondary tubes will serve to raise the power curve up the rpm scale. Nice smooth collectors...even if there are two different designs in one system. So as you might notice, the many different items that go into that set of headers appears to have some test time in it. The two different collector designs have me baffled though..! The muffler, the one I saw at Fontana...just like most all other straight thru designs but with more packing I'd guess. Mike |

1_mike, i don't say less hot headers, i say, the heat build up in the engine will be less, through a faster flow of hot air out the engine, through the headers. |

I have to agree with Easyrider on this one. Even my simple engineered system, shown in other threads, using the stock head pipes into a collector of 2 1/4" and a free flowing muffler w/insert has yielded less heat and increased performance. A side benefit is that my AFV's went from a H.P robbing 94.5 F&R to a very nice 100 F&R. I believe right where they should be at this altitude(4500') for the best H.P. & performance. Just right for a relatively stock bike. Buell designed a great header system for added air and fuel flow, and it just plain works. Bob (Message edited by bob_thompson on June 06, 2009) |
