Ok, so just how friggin loud are they? I'm seeing stuff on youtube where they are winning 'loudest bike' competitions, worse than HD's with straight pipes. I have an 00 cyclone with a vance and hines , and everybody tells me its @$&*% loud. You mean to tell me if I put a D&D on the 1125r its gonna be loud as the gates of hell swinging open, or is it all exaggerated?
I have the D&D and it's probably the loudest i have heard on a bike other then when I took the baffles out of my Vance and Hines power shots on my V-Rod.
Also when I was getting my Dyno pulls done the tech guys said it was comparable to the Samson exhaust on his V-rod for sound.
When the bike is cold its pretty loud because of the high idle but once warmed up it is mellower.
I personally like it. I though that it would make my head buzz over time but it hasn't.
The power increase is very noticeable but I am sure part of it is my re-map adding a lot of fuel to the bike. Up to 11% in some areas. I have about a 1000 miles and love it.
+1 This pipe is not for everyone. It is loud, and if your neighborhood doesn't mind it so much, then it's great. Almost everyone in my neighborhood rides, and almost all of them have stopped me to ask what kind of bike is making all that V-Twin sound.
The only thing I do not like is the side exit, I wished to god they would make a D&D underslung that more closely matches the XB exhaust that D&D makes. But it's not hard to clean, and the power difference is good.
Here's a couple of videos with a horrible camera man and bad filtering but the sound quality isn't so bad.
D&D tried to make it like a XB style exhaust but it was louder and wouldn't make power. He told me he couldn't let me have the XB style prototype because I'd blow out my eardrums.
