How much oil is it taking everybody after you change the oil and filter to refill. Its taking me more than the manual calls for to get it back in range on the stick even with a hot check setting upright. |

No. don't do that. 2.7 to 3 quarts on a full oil/filter change is correct. The dipstick and checking procedure is suspect. |

Also, there are many opinions about the checking procedure, but there are several here that do a COLD check looking for the oil to be between "barely on the tip of the stick" and the "min" level indicator. Bike must be vertical, of course. And when you do a cold check it has to be really cold, like sitting overnight. Just in case you want to try to pull some oil out of the dipstick tube. |

Ok, just make sure you drain both sides and rock the bike left and right. After that, put in about 2.7qts. Fire up the engine, ride it around the block and check you oil level. The last 4 changes it worked for me. #5 happens this weekend. Later Neil S. |

Thanks for the info. I rocked it several times and left the drain plugs out and filter cap off for 3 hours to make sure it was clean and it took 3 quarts to get it to the min mark when hot. I was scared to put anymore in it. Not to meation its not the easiest to see the oil on the stick just like my XB9. |
