Author Message   Jaimec Posted on Saturday, April 18, 2009 - 04:18 pm:        Well, the many-month saga of my Corbin saddle finally came to a close today when my friend came over to help me "oval out" the mounting holes on the seat bracket. It was a long row to hoe with absolutely NO HELP from Corbin. Al is the one who gave me the tips on how to get the damn thing to fit. You have to REMOVE the front two rubber bumpers (they don't do anything on the 1125R) and shave down the two MIDDLE bumpers roughly a quarter to a half inch. Once the above was done, I was able to shove the saddle far enough forward that I could at least SEE the mounting holes in the frame. To get that final quarter of an inch required "ovaling out" the seat bracket holes. My friend (who is far more adept with power tools than I am) came over today and the two of us drilled and filed those bad boys until they fit. Now that the saddle is installed, and the TechSpec Grip pads are installed (frame only so far) it was time to take it for a spin. Right away I can tell the Corbin is more comfortable than stock. The Grip pads also make it a lot easier to throw the bike through the turns without getting unsettled on the bike. I'm pretty much all set for California Superbike School next month in Jersey. Once those are installed I'll upload more photos. Only other thing I have planned is in June, I'll head up to Americade and have Ironbraid cover the brake and clutch levers in red/black leather. Then I can decide if I want to get the muffler ceramic coated red (see other "Photoshop" thread for how that'd look).
