I painted mine with high heat grill paint, let it set for 2 days and a mile down the road it started melting on my jeans. So i'm done messing with that, figured i'd just get an 09 one that already comes black.. -A |

Odd, mine hasn't done that. 1800 degree Bar-B-Q paint, flat black. I DID take mine off and mirror-polish the inside. That made a HUGE difference, the heat shield is hot, but I can touch it after riding and not leave skin behind... Zack |

I got the ceramic coated one from American Sport Bike and never thought about it again. Guess that means it works ;+}. Al may have it in black by now. Neil S. |

The 08 silver heat shield is S0175.AMA. The 09 black heat shield is S0175.2AMA. I put the 09 heat sheild on mine as it was less expensive than having ceramic coated. |
