HI everyone, be reading tonnes of posts here and just wondering if you all could answer me a question or two about the 1125R. I am on the edge of buying one as I love the styling and want to get a more "sport" oriented bike, not for the track, I will be using it for a few yearly trips I take into the mountains and coast lines. I rode a 1700 Yamaha Warrior before (5 years)and love the torque and the power, but always felt a little off for control. Will the "sport" position of the 1125R give me more of what I want? Can I keep pace with (and pass) the big twins like I did before or should I be looking at a 1000 I4 sport bike? Any help or comments from people that ride on the highways and travel with these bikes would be greatly appreciated (especially if you can draw a direct comparison to my last ride and any other big twins and 1000 CC I4 Sports) Thanks in advance J | ||

comfort wise i think this bike is awesome i had a GSXR 600 before and there is no comparison just the other day i rode it 500 miles and no back aches. if by big twin you mean a cruiser it would smoke them. it would keep up with a 1000 I4 until you got around 120+ then they would start pulling. But how often are you cruising over 120? | ||

It will wafflecrush any cruisers in all departments (except storage space). Watch the videos on Buell.com to see how it should be ridden. It's about 1/2 the weight of your Yamaha 1700. Only Ducati (1098) and KTM (RC8) have better V-Twins. This is a liquid cooled twin. I assume you've ridden other sport bikes. If not, you'll need learn how to ride (again?). Trackdays are the most useful thing to any rider ever. You don't need to race to benefit. Alot of cruiser guys steer with their ass and rely on the rear brake...you may die if you do that on an 1125r. Not an insult, just a warning. It is a real sportbike. Have the dealer really soften the front end and then go test it. Be warned, that ZTL brake is strong. You will never beat an IL4 1000cc bike in a straight line for anything > 1/4 mile. Life isn't a drag strip, so that shouldn't matter. Older Buells are know for their great handling. But after having an XB9R, I attest that the 1125r is lightyears ahead in the handling department. It's reasonably comfortable/sporty and should outperform nearly every bike in the twisty roads. The engine is very tractable. The power is predictable and strong. The fuel injection is poor (but much better on an '09 vs '08). However, when you use ECM Spy and •••• to add 6% more fuel, you'll get 135 hp and 77ftlbs of torque at the rear wheel. That's a sick power to weight ratio For a bike that's 375lbs dry (421 wet minus fuel, or like 450 with full tank). Edit: When I say soften the front I mean reduce compression damping. Thanks George and Clark, that was the kind of info I was looking for. Yeah, I rode sport bikes before, but it has been years...too many, and the Buell felt best in the showroom. I considered the Duc 1098 but felt too cramped...and the KTM....well, too much $$ up here. Thanks for the info again. J | ||

You will not regret buying an 1125R. One of the best handling bikes ever built. Period. Once you tune it, it's perfect! BR. | ||

If you buy an '08 you save a bundle of money but you'll need to spend the time with the dealer to get it sorted out. Or spend a bit more and by an '09 ready to go. It's a great bike. I took mine to it's first track day this Monday and had a ball on it. Coming from a 600 SS I had to recalibrate my wrist to accommodate the torque. But once I figured that out I was flying. Much easier to go very fast on. : )) One of the instructors was on a Super Dude and we had a blast putting in fast lap after lap. The 'Prilias were crying. | ||

"One of the instructors was on a Super Dude" Ghey  I have owned 2 Warriors and currently own an 1125. No comparison to the Warrior in any aspect especially when it comes to sporting intentions. Do a trackday on the 1125R and the Warrior will be a distant memory I promise. | ||

I traded a 2008 FZ1 for the CR. No regrets. This is testosterone in the finest form of two wheels. Soft bags added and no looking back, except the squids on jap bikes. |
