Referring back to archived thread -

Yesterday I passed 17.2 k on Loretta; the belt that rode under my seat for 2 months now has over 1000 trouble-free miles on it.

Fitting it under the seat wasn't too difficult, and adds a bit of "trip security" knowing a snapped belt won't strand you in BFE.
At the rate the miles are adding, looks like I may be running this belt for a while.

FWIW, in the old days, I carried 3 master links in the straps of my boots...

Wow Z, looks like your on to something great for the rest of us. Time for me to buy a second belt I guess. Thanks for giving this a shot and finding something that works.

Z:

Good deal, maybe I'll invest in one too.

Just an FYI -
The belt's p/n is G0500.1AMF and is the current Rev of the belt.

Z, are you the kind of guy that staples Post-It notes?

Don't get me wrong, there's no kill like overkill. I really dig being able to get myself extracted from whatever with a minimum of dependence on others...

Great Work!

Neal - I worried about that when I said I had 17 miles and all was good...
I quit worrying about 600 miles ago.

You took two months to do 1000 miles? The gas will go stale before you finish a tank! : )

Weather hasn't been cooperative for fun rides.
My commute is 22 miles a day.
I hate driving a cage.
Besides, it only took one month - March 6th : )

My mileage is not climbing very quickly these days.
August 4th and I'm at 20.6k miles.

I'm not quite getting 1000 miles a month.

Just did a 2-300 mile trip a couple of days ago.
Still on the "abused belt" with a spare under the seat.

I think you've passed the point of doubt. That belt is okay.

So at 29,000 s'miles should I keep a spare around?

CC, personally I would swap it out at your next tire change. The new belts are tight and harder to install that a used one, so take your current belt and use that as a rolled up spare that will slide right on if your ever on the side of the road.
