I tried to post some pic's of my 1125r on the badweb. I was shocked that they said my sponsor can't be shown on this site. I thought we lived in the USA, thinking those days were gone. |

We do live in the USA...but to think that posting on a web blog is a constitutional right...is wrong. Remember that we are (at least for a while longer) a market driven capitalist society. Which means the owners/stewards of this sight have the right to refuse service to anybody. If your pics appear to be an advertisement for a non-sponsor then I suggest cropping the pics so that the focus is on the bike. Or better yet have your dealer pay to play.

Wow...so if I happen to have the "wrong" brand of jacket on with that mfg's logo there is a possibility that I can't post a photo of myself ridding my Buell??? Ray excellent run. You are about 10 mph faster than last year if I remember right? Track day on Monday at Harris Hill (or can I not mention that name?) will you be able to make it? |

Rey, if one of your sponsors happens to be a certain ECM tuning software, that's the reason. For some reason, the name of the software is prohibited. Is Jardine a sponsor here? I know we have had a number of threads thread about their products (including a tuning module). |

I've had photos pulled from sites as well (not BadWeb, but other sites). What happened in my case was that one of my sponsors was rabid about contacting web sites and threatening legal action if their logo was used anywhere on the site. So, since they were my biggest sponsor and their logo was on my bike, I couldn't post it. In my case it was ultimately my sponsor that was not allowing me to post my photos! |

WFO, I'd like to see your pics as most here would. If you have a photobucket account you can host your pics there and distort the offending logo. Or you can email me your pics and I can do it for you on my photobucket, then post them here or start a new thread your you. Badlionsfan@aol.com is the email to send them to if you want to. |

Packdog - Man I don't get your sponsor. Is isn't the whole point to get their name out??? That is crazy. I maybe totally off base but isn't the point of a forum for the sharing of information? I fully understand that each forum can made their own rules but it seems to me that inclusion is better than exclusion. |

Well, in my case it was the legal department "protecting" the company - if it's posted on the web they can't control it and make sure that it is used in only a positive (in their opinion) way. Crazy, but that was their mentality. The marketing department sponsored riders in order to get the name out and have the logo recognized. The two departments were just not on the same page. Strange (and stupid), but true. |

Ray, Send me the photos and I'll happily post them for you. You're jumping to conclusions about BadWeB is premature. I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about. I can only guess. Who is this "they" to which you refer? We have no record of any post of yours being removed from public view. We had some people repeatedly circumventing our rules about advertising and marketing, so we've rightly taken measures to prevent them from continuing to promote their product here. They were in effect perpetrating theft of services. You see, the ongoing operation and maintenance of BadWeB depends entirely on support from sponsors. Allowing non-sponsors to advertise their product here absent the whopping $58/mo fee diminishes the value of sponsorship here; that would in turn put us into the red, and my pocket, like yours, is not overflowing with cash. So protecting the value of sponsorship here is one thing we absolutely are compelled to do. I'm sure you would do likewise if some overzealous salesman tried to paste his product logos all over your race bike without providing you any equitable support in return. Why should BadWeB be different? That said, I don't see how or why you were prevented from posting photos. I say post them. There may other issues concerning your particular sponsor as well. My view is that if you really need sponsorship, you'd do well to find it elsewhere than with folks who have no compunction against exploiting and abusing others for their own personal gain. If you have any further questions about this, please contact me directly. (Message edited by Blake on April 04, 2009) |
