I plan on taking off both wheels and the swingarm for customizing. My problem is, I have no idea what to use to keep the bike upright while these parts are off. Any suggestions? Thanx in advance!!!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.. What type of straps should I use? I was also told by someone to try using some milk crates. How good of a idea is that?

Sky hooks come in handy at a time like that ;+}. But seriously now, you could make a cradle to support the bike by the exhaust.

Front and rear Pitbull stands, get it up and stable, remove the wheels, fab a stand that sits under the tail section to support it, ie; sawhorses and support beam, then remove swingarm. Other option is as above, hanging it from the rafters. It's only 400 lbs, just spread it out some.

This is how i did it last week

I suggest modern disassembly benefits from liberal use of the digital camera. You can document where every wiretie and fastener goes.

Don't you just love how when you are all done and everything is put back together, you got 2 extra screws? : )

Usually...all that means are screws that were REPLACED.

But sometimes it's worse,and DOES require a major re-do

I went with Yuasa instead of SpeedCell

No, no, no... There is a fundamental axium in meckanikn' that if you take something apart and put it back together, you have parts left over. If you repeat the process enough times, you eventually have 2 of them.

If you don't have parts left over, you didn't have enough to do the job to begin with.

For straps - just use your tie-downs. They're good for like 1,000 pounds in a single length.

I'm about to pull the front wheel to take in for tire replacement. Will the Pitbull stand be sufficient, or is the strap to my overhead i-beam in the garage preferred either in lieu of or as supplement to the Pitbull?

Pitbull is commonly used at the track for changing wheels/tires BUT YOU MUST ALSO USE THE REAR STAND!

DO NOT just use the front stand. A mis-directed fart will knock the bike over if it's just on the front stand.

I read somewhere that you can also use one of those ATV jacks under the muffler. Haven't done it, just read it some where. What do you think of that?

I have seen a stand made out of 2x4's or something that was meant to go on top of the atv jack. It was cut to the shape of the muffler, I don't remember seeing any write ups on this, maybe someone could enlighten us on if they have made one.

I didn't think the 1125 muffler had jacking points like the XB models...Is it possible/recommended to lift the 1125 from under the can?
