Unless you get a turbo a busa will always out run you.

There are way too many discussions here about just this topic. You've brought the wrong weapon to the wrong fight.

What Slaughter said.

Aerodynamics play a HUGE part of the top speed equation. The scoops may even act as wind sails as seen in the Daytona race.

What they said. You don't want more top end... you want a different motorcycle.

Buy a ZX-14 and you can run all the 2 mile straights you want.

Yeah - I didn't want to be insulting but it's kinda like marrying a 5 foot 4 inch tall brunette and wanting her to be 6 inches taller.

You can ask her to change her hair color, have other surgical alterations (and she'd probably nut-kick you and tell you to find another woman) but I'd hope you'd love her for the woman she was.

The 1125R is an awesome machine but was never intended to be a "top end" machine. Frankly even if you COULD get 30-40 more HP out of it, the mods you'd have to do would certainly take away the character of the engine that evolved out of careful design/test where power delivery was a primary concern.

Let's go bottom line here, ok?

Busa claimed hp : 197
Buell claimed Hp; 146

difference: 51 horsepower

Assuming that the 1125R is optimally geared from the factory, gearing it for higher speed will make it go slower, as it will be unable to develop the required hp at top speed.

Contrary to the defeatist remarks above, there is NO reason on God's green earth that you can not beat a Busa with your Buell.

You simply need to get a bit creative:

1. Purchase a Buell factory racing swing arm and chain conversion. Gear for 195 -200 mph. Use DID ERV3 530 chain.
2. Modify the 1125 engine to put out 180hp at the crank.
No problem here that money won't solve. I would be thinking something on the order of $10-15 thousand, but the sky is the limit when you are having fun, right?
Just think full race: overbore, cams, valves, heads, crank, throttle bodies, dry cell battery, ultra light weight everything, like that. Fun part of this project is that you would be exploring virgin territory here: how fun is that?
Or you might just want to take a look at a Nitrous set up: leaves the bike more like stock, and you just add power when that Busa is in sight. Plus the polished NO tanks add a nice style note.
3. I would add the Buell full fairing and perhaps the rear section from the Buell XBRR - it's very aerodynamic, and looks it too. Paint everything flat black except for the gold forged Marchesini Mag wheels is the way I would go.

That's all there is to it, really.

Gotta think positive - that's the secret! ( And bring bags of cash, but you knew that already, am I right?)

PS: While you are at it, might not be a bad idea to buy another 1125 to actually ride when not racing Busas.

I understand you can get some great deals on 2008 leftovers just now.

Well from what i hear XB9's new tune can give you about 20 more hp from just the tune that brings you up to 166 figure you get a full exhaust and intake with his tune you could probably get close to 175 maybe more but idk, get a rear sprocket with a little more top end you may not be able to beat him but it would be one hell of a bike!

I seriously doubt I will EVER see Loretta's top speed.
140ish was enough to send the twins hiding.
Guess that's the "old man" showing...

With xb9's tune itts 20 mid range and 10hp top end. So he still has a way to go.

Personnaly if I was to go as fast as a busa I would not want to be on a buell. I need something that is less likely to take flight. Maybe its not as much of an issue with short people.

If you really, really, really want to beat him at something, take him to the twisties and leave him in your mirrors looking at your tail light. Otherwise do as many here have alluded to. Just funnin' though, our 1125's were never meant for straight line H.P. blasts. Its more fun for me leaving someone catching up while accelerating HARD coming out of a turn. Bob

Mike- We've got like a total of ~10 Buell riders in the whole state; don't make it 9. If you want to spank the Busa riders, come up to MBVI with us. Leave the 180 MPH straight-line street stuff to the squids.

I would really like to do that, but im having my bike sent to WA thats where im stationed at right now. The weather is not so nice, so no more going fast at all for this guy and more time working on my wet ridding skills, this is more than likely the better thing for me lol

Funny, I havn't had any problems with Busa's, I just get far enough ahead of them in the twisties that they can't make it up in the straights. HaHa. They are tanks, and they might scratch there chrome. I'd still rather have the handling of the 1125R. It all depends what your into.
