I love Buells and all the people that pour there hart and soul into these bikes. Thank you everyone, but I would like to express my discust of the pit work. Now before everyone jumps my butt on how easy it is to arm chair wrench, hear me out.I build and pit race cars for the top team in nascar, hint we have put a car in victory lane at every track this year. The first thing we practice is how to make repairs fast and robustly. The rider should not have to get off the bike to retrieve tape to fix his own bike.If Buell is going to contend for wins they need to prepare and pit the bike MUCH better than this. If the factory Buell team would be interested I would love to come help and inject some nascar style high energy race track help ! ! No realy I'm serious I believe I can help. If interested please respond. BUELLS FOREVER |

Oh one other thing. Mr asscar man. This aint asscar! A-whole. No offence dude, but to put things into perspective, asscar has millions and millions of dollars, AMA alone prob only has enough $$ to buy all of the seats for the Daytona 500 for ONCE a year to spread over a whole year of racing. Have you ever been to a superbike race? Look @the funding of those teams. I mean 64 racers out there. I don't think anyone without an AMA lic. Didn't qualify, oh wait, there was a few, the crashed out. Come on I agree the tape thing was an outrage of sorts, but be real. Ill use Jeff Gordan as an example. 3or4 semis show up. They have millions dollars of tools, millions of dollars of parts, engines, (get the plural?) shall I go on?? Get real these guys make 100,000 a year MABIE if the're in the damn suites, for crypes sake! I admit I was upset, as the 1125R was a contender. But that's racing! Oh you should know, you're an asscar man. What about a smashed fender that you get a hammer out and beat it off a tire, then put tape on and it hurts the areo pkg so bad that the car looses a couple of hundreths of a second per lap? Who's the armchair chrew cheif now???? About 10,000,000 people watching on tv. This aint asscar. So don't jazz these guys too hard. By the way, next time, why don't you go to an AMA race and tell the guy there you work on an asscar team abd you can help him yo repair a bike with a hammer, a jack, and money. On the spot and in a field of 64 and keep him in the lead group till the finish. Yea right! Again dude the guys did the best they could and I appreiciate your at the munimum watching the race, but give them a break. This aint asscar. Its overated crying richboys making WAY too much money for doing what they do. (kinda like pro b-ball, f-ball, etc... But if u like it, I'm not going to judge you. I don't, but I don't piss and moan @ what I can't control on tv. Dude, keep on arm chairing and let racers race. And thank you for your imput, as out of a field of 64 he still finished UNDER 15th, can your asscar team do that in a 200 mile race and be 2 laps down? Get real. I'm so proud of them, I just burnt a 200 tire to the threads for them! WE DIDNT FINISH LAST!!! |

I think the big picture here is where the Buells finished and what that means. In my opinion, it was only the flub in the pits that cost him the win. The engine didn't fail, no tires fell off, etc. And it's been stated many times, we didn't finish last, far from it. I'm a Nascar guy and I see many races where a few seconds extra in the pits cost the race. It could be seen that they were fumbling a bit. If I'm not mistaken, Nascar pit crews practice all the time to get their pit stop down to 12 seconds. I think the 25r pit crew probably practiced changing tires and gassing but may not have practiced for bodywork coming off. I can almost bet that it won't happen again. To take 5th in your first showing at the D200 speaks volumes about Buell and the 25r. And further more Buell dotted the whole finishing line up. It's a very proud moment for me as I'm sure it is for many of us. Buell has arrived. We can party, the other makes are probably sweating. Rock on Buell! |

Buell...........I'd take X1 up on his offer. The pit crew looked really bad, kind of like a privateer racer that had his dad show up for his pit crew. On the other hand, congrats on the success of the bike. We all know that the bike can hang with the rest of the field (due to this years rules). You'll get a big win this year......in due time. |

Timi, that post of yours was seriously uncalled for. You may NOT like Nascar(I certainly find watching grass grow more exciting), but why dis the guy like that? X1 is right. This was a Buell FACTORY backed team. They looked like rank amateurs out there that most likely cost Eslick the win. |

Hay I didn't mean to offend ANYONE, I'm sorry if I did. Timi I understand your point about money, but you can't dispute the fact that it is a factory team. There funding should be on the higher end of the scale compared to others in the field.I don't care what you race from F1 to soap box derby, the mechanics working on it should know how to fix it. I have raced go karts four wheelers bikes and ASSCAR, and I pride myself in knowing what I'm working on even with my eyes closed. So sorry if I bent some of you, I think we need to focus are energy in to supporting those guys kick ass this year ! BUELLS FOREVER |

Sounds like Timi had a good buzz going. You are right X1 - they looked real bad. Only part of the race "I" was embarrassed for BMC. Experience - what you wish you had when you need it. Overall a very proud day for BMC in my eyes. Sure would have been nice to see Danny on the podium, oh well. Z |

>>>>but you can't dispute the fact that it is a factory team. I can. Buell Motorcycle Company had less in this than it would cost me to take my family on vacation. HD has cut, nearly cut out, racing funds. This was sponsorship and private funds. |

Hey X1whitie, I love that you want to lend your experience and expertise. I think that Buell and the Buell community benefits immensely from the passion of its owner's. While it is a small technicality, the Richie Morris Racing team that fielded the Geico and Rossmeyer machines is not a factory team in the truest sense. Although no one will deny that the factory is offering more assistance than it ever has, the racing program is still in the hands of those willing to spend the cash...like RMR and other dealer teams, Hal's, Glendale, Bartel's(Higbee) all come to mind. Also, keep in mind that the Daytona 200 is the only AMA race during the season that requires pit stops. Obviously more practice is needed in making emergency repairs, but hopefully this won't happen to them again. I think Buell Racing took a huge step forward yesterday and am excited to see the RMR team compete this year. The 200 proved that mechanically the 1125 can go the distance and that RMR with Eslick and Barnes can contend for the top spot. PS - I think we need to send SPEED a phonetical breakdown of Bryan Bemisderfer's last name. They really botched it up when reporting his crash. |

Wow, Looks like I missed some of the action on this site last night. A lot of GTFO and name calling on here lately. Seems like everyday. Maybe some should go back and read the site rules about that. Just because you don't spell out the whole word or words doesn't make it OK. (Message edited by dentguy on March 07, 2009) |

>>>> Although no one will deny that the factory is offering more assistance than it ever has Uhhhhh . . . I will. the factory $$$ available for racing are about the lowest they have ever been. That may change but right now the entire HD organization is under major "clamp down" unless something has happened in the last 48 hours. Don't get me wrong . . . there are lots of factory faces and some travel and lodging dollars get spent but it'd be a real stretch to call it a "racing budget". We looked at doing a pared down (almost always a bad idea in racing) effort a couple years ago. I met with a professional "sponsor introduction" firm from Colorado and the $$$ required are staggering. I'm thrilled to see Geico in the mix and I'm betting Geico was thrilled to. Doesn't cost them much and they get good exposure. I'm going to make certain to write them a letter this week, say "thanks" and remind them this is why I insure with them. I predicted great things for Buell Racing following the XBRR "lesson" at Daytona and I am really excited . . . Step 1 going well. |

Hey for the record, I don't do drugs, drink heavly!!! My job requires me to be sober at all times. Now that's not to say I wouldn't, just I don't! As foe the fireworks, well if that is taken to name calling, so be it! I'm not calling xbguy any names. Last night I was up watching the dvr'ed race and was hooting and holloring like the rest of you guys. The duct tape and zip tie thing we ALL went ballastic I'm shure!!!! Ok I went off and bashed xb. Sorry. Too many emotions. I get bashed by those guys who hyabusa their way to being fast. 600's that will give a hell of a run. And 1000's that will eat our ass on almost any straightaway. Now this Daytona 200 is and has been an Americian tradition for over 50yrs. So I have the right to defend those who I want. Has anybody read my statement on the other thread? Yes Asscar is HUGE! The revenue is in the Billions. They have funding for lugnuts for crypes sake. If their was any bashing, I think it was xb's on the little underfunded "factory" team. Don't hate the "mistake", hate that they don't have a thousand dollar "widget" tool for busted rad mounts!!! Seriously, what would you have done in the exact same situation, same tools, rules? Special thanks goes out to the duct tape co. And zippy zio-tie, for without them. We would have prob finished last. Choke on that! Sorry xb if I ofended you. Just defending those who couldn't at the moment. And to the crowd, I'm pationate about this Buell 1125R, so be it. Don't hammer my boys, and I won't hammer you. Ha ha ha. Be safe. |

Mr asscar man. That is where your offensive behavior started, and it only escalated from there. "Sorry if I offended you" doesn't begin to touch it, and neither does the rationalization that you are only showing team spirit. |

Ok you guys want to bully up on me? Jesus said this (in not so many words) "we will make mistakes, to ask for forgivness, you will receive it." This isn't to say that YOU will, but that's ok. I appoligize for my behavour, my swearing, and for upsetting anyone. X1, sorry. Ben Bostrom, sorry, you should have won by at least 3 laps ahead of any Buell running any type of ducttape at all. Everyone else, sorry if I have left a bad taste in their screens. Again read where all 6 of those "factory" riders finished. Sorry for them also, they should have finished from last to 6th from last so every one could laugh at Buell. Does that make anyone less defencive? Pick, pick, pick, get over it. We (Buell) had an excelent showing! Ducttape and all, Higgie, in 5th!!!! I think Erick is proud! I know I am!!!! |

I looked up the race and formula. Even with the weight restrictions, racing against 600s seems like lowered expectations... Are there any 1125Rs in the AMA Superbikes? |
