Al,

That's an AWESOME idea!! Wish I would have thought of it. Your price is plenty fair for all the stainless hardware and custom pieces. Keep up the great work!!!

It's not really all that new an idea...someone posted something very similar to it here on badweb a few years ago...I did some sketches of a latch design a little more refined and easier to install blind and in the dark, but it would have been more expensive. In the end, trying to get the cotter pin into the little hole with a countersink on it really isn't all that hard, and it's pretty dirt simple and inexpensive to implement. So I just went with simple.

Al,
Someone is always going to complain something is too expensive. I liked the idea so much, I bought a set for my 1125R and a set for my brother's XB. Why would I make my own when I can get a quality product for so little money? Considering the work I would have to do to make a similar kit, I think it's a good deal.

Got my kit today and installed it tonight. It came with excellent instructions and was on the bike in 5 minutes. I am really happy with it. Its easy to use and taking off the seat is no longer an annoying little chore. Plus, no more stripped Riv-nuts. Wish I would have had these a LONG time ago.

Best $20 I have spent on my bike.

I received my kit yesterday and put it on today. Easy to install and makes it soooo much easier to take the seat off.

Curt.....
In our last meeting on Wednesday Al brought up the 2009American Sport Bikebq idea of doing Oktoberfast/American Sport Bike BBQ at the lodge again.
Though pricey , the times at the Lodge were very much fun and worth the price. The roads there were great and the roads through the park are fantastic.....other than the gravel in the corners. Al is trying to get a take on interest level....and the sooner we book , the likelier we are to get the Cabin across the lake with the Hurl Deck! the link is of pics from the Montecito lodge.......

Got my seat pin kit today and had it installed in less than an hour...(was also enjoying a nice Hoyo maduro).... nice components and fit like it came with the bike. Every XBR/1125 owner needs to get this upgrade.

What a heck of a good idea! I will not miss having to remove hardware just to get my seat off of my 9R.

AND once again, trouble free ordering from American Sport Bike.

Ditto what 4cammer said. Kit came today and it was disgustingly easy to put in. After I stepped back and looked at it I wondered why this isn't standard equipment. Then I took the seat off...and put it back on, then took it off and put it back on...and so on.

This Mod will definitely make the Black one faster.

Because there are people on here, not to name names (Jake ) that keep insisting that the white ones are faster. So in order to stay ahead of the curve we must strive for warp speed...we must give it all she's got!

Well, the peer pressure was too great. I had to order one of the kits. I really hate taking off the bolts for the seat.

Got my kit the other day....will install it tomorrow.....I can't wait to "fight" the touring seat corners to get the original screws out...for the last time

Bob

I have the touring seat also. You won't believe how relieved you will be know that you'll never have to crease 2" of foam again to remove the seat...the torx wrench will never fling itself out of the screw and across the garage...I thought I was going to cry i was so elated.

Man, I could have used those when I had an XB. The seat bolts were such an irritating design.

considering how difficult it is to bend the corners back...I am surprised that someone from BMC didn't design and include this kit with the seat...didn't anyone at BMC struggle with putting a touring seat onto a Firebolt?

I ordered the kit and received an email from American Sport Bike (Joanne) letting me know that they were shipping the order USPS priority. The total for shipping came out to $7 (UPS was only $8), which is much better than the original $12 on the site. I am in NY, and they are in CA, so the shipping just about anywhere should at least be the same or cheaper. I was going to wait, but for under $30 total including shipping, it is worth getting rid of the inconvenience of taking off the seat bolts. Thanks AL and Joanne, for the quality products and the top notch customer service. This company truly is one of the best out there. Now if they could just come up with a quick release kit for the radiator pod covers....

I just installed this kit over the weekend, YES I HAVE MY BIKE BACK!! Anyway, it's well worth the $20 guys. Get the hole for the cotter pin in the right spot takes a little trial and error, but when you get it in the sweet spot, the cotter pins slide in an out easily AND there is no play in the seat--it's as tightly connected to the frame when compared to screwing it down.

It is SO sweet to realize you forgot to put the front 2 bolt that hold the airbox base plate (exhausted at the end of a long day) and just yank those two cotter pins out. Halfway there in seconds.

USPS does some things right. UPS would have taken a full week to get from CA to NY.

I installed the kit. It only took about 10 minutes. The quality is great. It is well worth the price. American Sport Bike did a great job and their customer service is the best.
